I had to quit our box. Too much crappy drama going on, my wife and I got dragged in to a situation that we had nothing to do with despite staying out of it.
No idea what to do now.

I agree, try to find another box. I work out of town M-F, so I can only hit my local box on Fri nights or Sat. I *try* to do the workouts during the week, but things like box jumps, wall balls, kettlebell, etc, can be a challenge at a "normal" workout facility. |

I know, right? 405 would be 1.8x my BW. I'd like to see 450 to get to a nice round 2x BW before the end of the year. We'll see - that might be ambitious...

Although looking at their recent program it does look like they've been reigning it in a bit, however you still need to have your eat and sleep dialed. |

We'll agree to disagree. Robb Wolf wrote an article on the very thing, give it a read. Eating and sleeping are every bit as important as the workout itself.

my dad was a shift worker for years and he found time to win a few regional bodybuilding championships. Even up until he left the plant and started his own business about 12 years ago(he was about 44), he still found time to workout regularly. People will find time to work out if they really want to.

I'll actually lean towards ETD's side if we are talking strictly SealFit and not just CrossFit. Most of their workouts tend to be at least an hour long if not more, and that's without the warm-up.
So let's just say it takes you 15 minutes to get to your gym/box, another 5 to change, 10 minute warm-up, 1 hr workout, 5 minute cool down, 5 minute shower, 5 minute change, 15 minutes home/back to work. You are talking about 2 full hours. That's tough for anyone to do, regardless of the schedule they keep. Flip Side: Sealfit is pretty hardcore so if you are doing it then you know the time commitment and physical commitment and it won't matter if you are a shift worker or not. |

Here's today's SEALFit WOD:
Baseline: Run 400M. 4 rounds Bar Bell Complex 75 - 105#. Run 400M Work Capacity: AMRAP 30 minutes: 5 x Squat Clean (95#) 10 x Double Under 15 x KB Swing (55#) -----(segment)----- Strength: Work to 1RM Thruster Stamina: 4 rounds, not timed: 3 x Thruster @ 85% 1RM, 3 x rope ascent, Sand Bag carry 200M Durability: 3 mile run at moderate pace. 4 sets of 50 4-count flutter kicks. Eccentric stretch. That would take me the better part of 2 hrs to complete, I'd wager (not counting changing/showering/etc). |

The AMRAP is 30 mins. Figure 24-25 mins for the run (if not more by that point of the workout) and you're at an hour already. Then you have to add the baseline/warmup, the work to 1RM, the 4 rounds of thruster/rope ascent/sandbag carry, plus four sets of 50 4-count flutter kicks and THEN stretching/cool down. Lunacy. Yeah, I will agree that SealFit WODS are sometimes too much. you do so much work and expend so much energy that the last half of the workout doesnt benefit you much because you're already exhausted and you lose intensity. The SealFit WOD's Ive done have been in the 45 minute to 1 hour 15 minute range, and IMO, those are awesome, because you can stay intense through the whole thing.
