Lightbulb STi HID - reflector housing?

Are the STi Hid systems reflector based? If so, could this be the opportunity to buy some reliable oem xenon bulbs, designed for reflectors (so as to avoid excess glare into other drivers that aftermarket systems can do) for a moderately fair price (as opposed to buying the sti lhd projector hids- over 1k)?

good question...if so, then i wont need to buy an aftermarket hid system. Let's hope they dont charge an arm and leg for the system.

I am sure the bulb socket is different. So if you have an '04 wrx/rs then it would be much easier to swap assemblies and ballasts. Than try to make a D2R bulb fit your original halogen assy. properly.
