Luke and everyone help! Goodyear F1 GS-D3 VS AVS ES100 VS Sumitomo HTR ZII
Well I bought some OZ Superleggras(17x7) a few months ago and want to put them on but can't decide on tires and I am unsure about the size to get. I have heard people say don't run a 225 on a 7" rim it isn't worth it and others saying it's more contact patch and a better choice?
As for the tires these are the choices I have narrowed it down to. Everyone seems to either be running the AVS ES100 or trying to sell me the AVS ES (Discount Tire). However I am leaning more towards the Goodyear as the reviews are great and so is tireracks prices. The Sumitomo I threw in for the bang for the buck factor, I have heard it's an unbelieveable tire for the price. So everyone please help me get these rims on my car! Heres the scoop I will be using my RE92's for winter with the stock rims so I am looking to put a summer tire only on my Rex. Oh yeah one final question can you buy the Bridgestone RE070 anywhere and are they any good?

The consensus from this thread seems to be the Goodyears if you can afford them.

I've been driving on the Goodyears for about a week now. I haven't pushed them hard, but so far so good. I got into fairly heavy rain one time, and they felt outstanding, the car tracked as solid as a rock at 70mph. Too early to tell much otherwise, but I'm happy with them so far.
The ES100 sound like a very nice tire, too, I don't think you can go wrong with either of these two. Relatively few people have the Goodyears, and I wanted to try something different. |

After reading up on the Goodyears, I was sold. I checked Tirerack, and their site said they were backordered. I checked with Luke, and he said there's no telling when they will get them back in. I decided to go with the Yoko's since I was too lazy to hunt around for the Goodyears elsewhere. I should have the tires midweek... They seem like the best bang for the buck tire from what I've read.
I am getting 215/45 17's for my UK 17x7 wheels. They are going on my RS, so I don't think 225's would fit without rubbing. I think you can get away with 225's on a WRX sedan, just not a wagon. But that's just the understanding of a non WRX owner who pays attention to chatter occasionally. |

How to these Goodyears stack up to other Ultra High Perf tires such as the SO3 or the SP9000s?

Glad to hear that Luke. I placed an order last night with Tirerack for the Goodyears. Yeah they were twenty seven dolars more a tire than the Yoko's but hey you get a $50 gift card for Home Depot which really makes them about $30 more total so it was an easy decision. Besides everyone is running the Yoko's too and I wanted to be diffrent!
Now I just hope you guys get them in real soon. Any expected date on the tires to TireRack? |

I ordered the 215/45 17(due to my 7" rim and this is the max I can spend). Well unfortunately I received a call today from Henry @ Tirerack. I missed his call but he left a message saying the tires were backorder until approx. 6 to 12 weeks
I have done a lot of research on this tire and it’s the one I want but I don't know if I can wait that long. I don't think there is any other tire I want. Is it really going to be that loooong for this tire, I hope not? Anyway you could subsitute the 225/45 Jerimi |
