Default Ebay knockoff wheel spacer for my spare wheel?

Reason I am asking is that I have some 17” rims and a set of Subaru 4 pot brake kit in the front. I feel the need to have a spare tire in the trunk. The problem is that if I ever get a flat, I am suppose to put the spare ( a 16” wrx stock wheel) in the front to prevent burning my diff, but the stock wheel won’t clear the brake caliper. I searched for a while and figure that a 3mm spacer can solve this problem.

So, can I just buy one of the $10 ebay knockoff 5mm wheel spacers and keep it in my trunk in case I ever need to use my spare for a few miles?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
(don’t feel like spending $70 for a quality spacer for a spare)
Or, should I just put the spare in the rear and forget about the spacer?

Thanks in advance!!

Ditch the spare, save weight, better gas mileage. Then call and spend 7-20 for AAA.
