Haha, try removing it!!! Then you'll see why it's so flimsy.

Default cracked front bumper

What is the cheapest possible fix for a broken front bumper? My 98 OBS is all cracked from multiple snowbank crashes. I drive very aggressively in snow, and sometimes the snowbanks I crash through to get into my driveway are too hard. But that's why I love driving an old car that I can drive like it's a toy and not worry about. It's only the bottom center of the bumper that is cracked. Would gorilla tape be my best bet. I've tried to superglue it back together, but it never holds.

I thought about covering it with skateboard grip tape which would look great at first, but I'm afraid of running into cleaning/wear issues.

I'd like to do gorilla tape to make sure everything is together, and then cover that with something else a little nicer to finish it off. Any ideas about a good material for this purpose?

For me, silicone works great. Not sure how it would look on a black car, but find some that dries clear and i think you'll be in good shape.

Knowing all of this, and seeing the scrapes on the underside of the bumper (from the past owner), do you guys think Suabru will do anything?
What dealer ? I am from long island and have a 2012 on order

I had the same crack as everyone in this thread and had it repaired at a Subaru dealer for ~$200. Now a month later I scraped asphalt going probably 3 miles an hour and the crack has reappeared I'm not sure what I should do at this point. It's so frustrating that these cars can't have even the smallest force put on the bumper. My 2004 WRX went through tons of **** and I never had a problem with that bumper.

Driving home today from work I changed lanes to make my exit and wham! The car in front of me hit a semi-truck retread and threw it straight into my front bumper. The Ventureshield looks the worst so I'm just going to get that lower section replaced and call it good for now after reading this thread.

I had the same thing happen to mine. Driving down a road that was ruts of thick, bumpy mud so the front bumper kept hitting and cracked both sides. I ended up epoxying the crack together and then when i feel like it ill bondo and paint it. Holding strong so far.

Got mine fixed today - plastic weld, paint and clear blend, and then my Ventureshield will go back on Monday! $300 fix.

nice. you inspired me to get the clear bra. I have an appointment for monday. you should spray the inside of the bumper with Stop Leak rubber sealant. I used a similar product. Its like Rhino Liner. Very easy to apply.

FYI. The Ventureshield is on the car in this picture except for on the repaired lower lip area - it was separate piece luckily so they could just take that little section off.

Cracked the bumper on my '12 sedan recently too I have a clear bra but that makes it look worse now because when it cracked, the flex in the bumper made the clear bra lift up so now I'm getting all this dirt and crap in there. Might just remove the bra on that piece of bumper and live with it. I've got mods I want to spend money on, not a new freakin bumper and paint!

Sorry if this has been answered already but I dont have the time this morning to read all 12 pages here. Did anybody end up having any luck with SOA on getting the bumper replaced???

I ask because this morning I cracked MY SECOND bumper in the exact same lower spot as most of you have. The first time I tapped (and I mean tapped) a snowbank and cracked it within months of ownership. I was so upset that I just got it replaced but this morning I hit a pothole (bumper dint touch anything) and low and behold, exact same crack. This is outrageous that these cant withstand the wear and tear of daily driving anymore.

So yeah, anybody have any luck with Subaru?

That sux ^ sorry to hear that.

I sprayed a **** ton of that newish rubber sealant stuff all over the inside of the bumper and along the bottom edges. Not the Flex Seal from TV but a similar product from Home Depot. I have scraped one time since applying and so far so good. The scrape was pretty bad too.

I really hope they address this.

I've got a cracked bumper on an '09 WRX hatch (premium) and was considering replacing it with newer bumper cover but not sure if a newer one will fit or if the widebody bumper would like strange on it.

Stupid flimsy bumpers.

Have you tried calling SOA? I think you might have a bit more luck with your case considering you've gone through two. Maybe I'm giving SOA too much credit...

No it would not fit for several reasons, and I guaranty your bumper is stronger than ours.

I had the same problem with the same location. My bumper cracked too. I just bought a front lip and aligned it in place before installing. Now that will take any abuse. Hahaha

Cracked mine yesterday coming out of a steep driveway. Barely even touched and it cracked. My G37 is way lower and rubs everywhere... no crack yet. The plastic on the WRX is weak. Any good looking aftermarket replacements out there?

Man you would swear that these bumpers are fiberglass with all the people suffering cracks. It appears the thin bumpers covers also are made from a cheap thermoplastic compound that has very little give. I've seen crappy cars like Cavaliers get into fender benders where big dents just pop back out.

Add one more cracked bumper to the list. There is some scuffed paint on the driver side corner, but I have no idea when it happened, must have barley rubbed. found it while replacing fog lights. Super annoying I baby this car. :P eff
Guess I'll try the plastic repair and v-limited lip to keep it from splitting up the front....
