Stock studs on a true 400+whp car is stupid to begin with. Let alone wrong offsets.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone figure out stock wheel studs, with spacers. Then add leverage of wrong wheel offsets and come up with a breaking point in psi? Excel spread sheet on WHP, So you could look at your offset, your whp and come up with oem wheel stud strength. Or something like that...

So if that sounds stupid. I'm on doc's pain meds.... lol
Properly torqued, it takes TONS of force to overcome the friction between the hub face and the wheel. I forget the actual number, the calculations are in the Wheel and Tire forum somewhere.

^ That's virtually my setup. Falken Azenis RT-615 245/40/18 x 9 +38 Drag DR-31.
Any chance you got a measurement of the tire before installing them? I've heard they run around 10mm wider than most.

Up in the air whether i want to run those Star Specs at 245 (presumably measuring close to 255) gaining me an extra 10mm more tire, or just go with a different tire at 265/35/18 for a little more tire and slightly less sidewall.

Go 265-40 don't be a vagina.
Only reason I went 35 is because it's all they have for 295s.

lol. Thanks for the encouraging words. Yeah, 265/35/18
Just worried about whether they'll fit. I'm on a narrow body and stock style suspension (not coilovers). So kinda curious whether it'll fit.

I have 245/40/18 star specs on the daily (a mazdaspeed 3) and its meaty and not too tall. Good compromise I think I have a pic somewhere of the tire/wheel.

I'd do a 255 star spec. I'd rather have a wider tire. 255s tuck easy with a roll and pull. Anything over 235s really have the same outcome anyway. You scrub without fender work.

I'm running 265/40/17 Z1SS's, and they only rub on the inner fender well on the rear at full compression, no roll necessary.

A bit, but I love meaty tires.

Nooo way. This is the meaty tire thread. Not rubber band church of the super duper my tires don't fit right and pop a bead thread.

I have 295/35s and I think the sidewalls are about perfect.

You have a 2011...............02-07s and newer WRXs will most definitely rub with a sane sized wheel and offset.

Wait did you put a 265 on a stock wheel?

I ran RT615's on my old wagon and they ran a tad bit wide, but not as much as the star specs do. Since the rt615's are no longer available, only the rt615-k's are available now, I can't comment on how they run size wise. I do like the grip on the star specs a little better than the old 615's. Once again, can't comment on the performance of the new K's as I havent tried them yet. Also the sidewall on the 265 at 35 will probably be the same size, if not larger, than that of a 40 series sidewall on a 245.

Sorry, I was flipping back and forth between this thread and this one: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...7#post36174207 So in my absent mind I neglected to make the connection that we were talking about another chassis.

Yes, on a stock wheel. I don't have the option of using larger wheels. And I would have gone bigger than 265/40/17 if Dunlop offered a larger size in the Z1SS.

I am planning to go to a 35 and I would love to run a 40. I have plenty of room to run a 35. And I am sure I could go down to a 275/40/18 and get a much better contact patch on the track. The current 30 is a kidney killer and on some tracks is more a negative for traction then a gain. 30's I think are a waste of rubber in my opinion. My next set I run is going to be a 315-295/35/18 And if I can't get that in the brand I am looking at in the compound I want. Then I am going to run a 275/40/18

Its cool to look at a car and go WOW that's a tire on that car. But when its about function, 30's have done nothing but upset my car mid corner with a bump or a dip. The sidewall just can not handle it like taller tires can. I also think 30's on the street are bad as once again you do not have enough sidewall to soak up a pot hole and what not.

What suspension are you on? I do just fine on my 285/30/18s. In fact they are much better than the 295/35/17s I used to run. Less basketball effect and more direct feel.

I have a set of 16x10 0 offset diamond racing wheels for my car, I'm not sure what size tire I should get, I know the wheels will be sticking out a good 2 inches past the stock fender, which is why I'm getting flares. 285/35 or 285/40?

Thanks-
TK

Interesting choice... i would recommend the taller tire considering it's on a 16" wheel.

Tire sizes are horribly limited for 16 inch wheels. Good luck finding a decent tire in a large size.

True there is nothing close to the size you are looking for. and if there is they are track tires. best match i found were 275-45-16 hoosier for $1130 a set. widest streetable tire i found was a 225.
