Thanks for the insults, guys.
Thanks for your kind response, RG. I've met you and spoken to you enough that I didnt think you sounded bitchy. This is a stressful situation and a touchy subject.

One thing I have to disagree on is uour stating that it was drained to the proper level. I had Jason scribe two marks. one where it was first filled, and another after a tiny amount was drained. I left with it still very high and have the scribe marks.

Can anyone figure out why Zeeper is so into bashing me and insulting me on here? I thought he was "through".

They didn't have to, but they did. And this is why we've only owned Subaru's for the past 15 years or so.

I would be pissed as well if my Impreza is drinking oil (thankfully it isn't yet), but you have to have some patience, especially with a new engine and car.
Agreed but its been a year now. And I have yet to leave a dealer with less than six quarts in the crankcase. SOA promised to send a rep because of the extremely unproffessional folks at Bill Bryan. Nothing. So then I drive an hour and a half to two hours through traffic to adealer counties away and get a failed attempt at a test.
I am not very patient by nature, but its been over a year now. If you include the foresters fb oil consumption, its been since late 2010.

But all the suggestions that arent insulting or smart assed are well considered. Its just hard to keep calm when you have been fighting an uphill battle amidst personal attacks and smear campaigns.

He had REALLY high hopes for the next dealership as far as I remember. The thing is...he was an early adopter of the oil loss....and him being as anal as he was is not bad...but it was serving him nothing except frustration and no one was coming to his side. Eventually there were others because of his posts coming out of the woodwork that had the same trobles as he was having. But imagine no one but him was on this forum.....yikes....just think of that....everyone would just think he's nuts. Well...I wouldn't but.....that's because I had problems no one could solve...as I've stated before. So I'm sure that until his car burns/loses more than say 1200 per oil change he's stuck in limbo. At some point you give up caring. Those oil tests sound very annoying...it's sad that the car buyer feels like being a beta tester for a new PC game. In fact...SOA whould give them a nice WRX loaner and keep the defective car and drive it around.
WELL SAID!!!!!!!!!!
Someone can actually empathize.
Yeah it was easy to paint me as some nut until dealers started admitting others were having problems and new members started to notice their vanishing oil.

I have no doubt that SOA will work out a solution to the problem after it is identified. If your car consumes oil, and you want remediation under warranty, it won't happen unless you work with a dealer authorized to perform warranty work. Keeping good records, and organizing together, should help, rather than hinder, that process.

Pissing and moaning on a website, and slandering a dealer that tried to help? Not so much.
Slander? All I did was recount my failed attempt at starting the consumption test. Was I upset? Yes, rightly so.
You are officially the most ultimate internet troll I have come across. A real TECHNICIAN at it.
With you sole purpose to discredit and insult me, what are your motives? Does SOA send you checks? What is it you do for a living again?

If you need the support of a Subaru dealership to make progress with your oil consumption problem, do you think your new stickers will help you in that regard?

The friend that made the graphics is a bigwig IT guy.
Theyre also sort of an inside joke between he and I.
They instantly made me feel a littke better.
Theyre easy enought to remove.
Despite what you think I'm not the kind of ass who would show up at a friendly dealer with brand-defaming stickers.
I'm calm. Calmer'n you are. (Johm Goodman voice)
I think it pisses some of you off the moment I start to calm down and the thread gets civil.
SOA would be, and probably is, proud of the bashers. The last thing they would want is a rational and/or civil discussion or debate.

The people I've dealt with outside of Bill Bryan have been helpful.
I agree about the honey vs vinegar, thats why I took em donuts, smiled, and stayed out of their way.
It sounds like the tech was the kink in the chain, and it also sounds like they will be able to do a proper test. So I plan on returning, with donuts of course, at the next and last factory scheduled free service at 21k miles.

The only thing cheesier than Charlie Brown vinyl is making fun of the car you're actually driving. You should put a big VW vinyl across the whole back windshield while you're at it. This speaks volumes about you. Glad it makes you smile.

If I was a dealership, I would laugh you out of the door.

Do you really think this will help your claim for a new motor?

Making fun of the car youre driving is quite common.
If your friends and coworkers call ya charlie brown and you hate your subaru- ITS THE ULIMATE!
As to that being cheesy, well I have a sense of humor, and my friends all seem to really get a hoot out of the thing already. Expression of distaste displayed on the rear window of cars isnt new, thats for sure. But at least mines ORIGINAL. I mean, its not like I went "calvin and hobbes".
There are lots of cheesy trendy lames with all kinds of crap in the back window. "salt life" is standard on every douche's jacked up truck around here.
Well, since you are going to anyhow, flame on FLAMERS!

It's clear no one reads before they write..... 79 clearly stated he would not drive into the dealership with that logo on...that's just for him before it gets fixed. Say he finally gets fixed, maybe no need for the logo...who knows.

But if you look back at how excited he was to go to that dealership with REXY.....it was pretty sad when he reported back. I guess alot of you like driving an hour away only to get pissed on because a tech has the brains of a slug. The thing is....a dealership is only as good as the weakest link...especially when the tech is working on your car.

I'm glad you at least have a good memory, alpha. ITS VERY CLEAR WHO ACTUALLY HAS READ OR FOLLOWED THIS THREAD.
I seriously wonder about some of my detractor's motives....
And yeah, the sticker makes me feel better. I actually smiled when walking up to my car. Gotta have a sense of humor.

Quote from that mechanic

"FB20:

Negligable wear on all components.

Piston to bore clearance:

#1 - .0012", nil taper, .002" out of round
#2 - .0005", .0008" taper, nil out of round
#3 - .0007", .0008" taper, nil out of round
#4 - .0005", .0005" taper, .0004" out of round

Bores glazed, staining on pistons indicates poor oil & 2nd ring seal, staining on intake ports indicates excessive blowby.

Heavy carbon deposits on piston crowns, head chambers & valves, valve seats pitted by trapped carbon.

Valve guide clearance:

Intake - .002"
Exhaust - .0025-.0027" (!!)

Stain trails from guides indicates oil leakage, nil measurable wear on guides or valve stems.

In short - rings are too ****ing thin & cannot control the oil in a boxer engine, oil getting past the stupidly low tension thin oil rings prevents 2nd & top rings from bedding & glazes the bores, excessive blowby then occurs blowing oil out the PCV system into the intake runners. All this is compounded by very loose valve guides failing to control the oil.

They learned nothing from the EJxx engines issues."

This scares me..... This is the same sort of issue my local mechanic was talking about except he didn't know was the "exact" cause because he got one at an auction and sold it. Other than that...Subaru needs to look at that thread.

Got my car end of June '12 with 13miles on it. The low oil level light of my car first turned on around Christmas time of '12 at approx 13k miles. Took it to the dealership here in Sherman Oaks, CA, apparently burned through 1 quart of oil since the 7.5k oil change, they just topped it off then the light went off with no problem. Then just last week at around 14,800k miles the low oil level light turned AGAIN. Took it back to the dealer since the 15k maintenance service was due anyways. Tech looked at it and turned out the car burned through 1.5 quarts with approx 2k miles of driving. Tech said it was something with the "oil switch". Had to special order it and it would take 2 days for the part to ship. Warranty covered the repair and the dealer covered a rental car for 2 days for safety reasons, didn't want my car burning more oil. So I was stuck driving a freakin' Fiat 500 for 2 days, which was just horrible. Finally got my car back today, light off and no signs/smells of oil burning. Hopefully this is the end of it. And yes, I know I drive a lot.

That's what the tech told me, "oil switch". I didn't ask any further cause I was in a hurry to get out of the dealership to go to work. I think he meant to say oil pressure switch, or could be oil level switch.
