I need wire color help. (urgent)
OK... figured out the speakers from http://home.earthlink.net/~hackrat/Gavin/svx-sound.html
That is the only subaru wiring color chart that has matched up to what is in my 99 legacy outback. However, the power and stuff do not match. I need to know what colors the: A) Power continously supplied B) Power supplied in ACESSORY position These are the subaru wires left over after hooking up (what I am hoping) are all the speakers: A) White/Green B) Blue/Red C) Green/Orange D) YELLOW E) Yellow/blue Ok, I have not been smoking crack (today). This makes no sense. Why the hell did subaru do this to me? There is no 'RED' for power which would make sense. Can anyone help me please? It is getting dark outside and the bugs are coming out. I need help. I do not have a power antenna. I took out the stock radio/tape/wb & cd modules. I need help. This is driving me insane.

PS- I need help.
Going to try the volt meter with the car in various key positions. If nobody responds and that doesnt work I am going to leave those 5 wires hanging and connect the power continous to the horn power and then run another wire to the lighter power. |

thanks peaty but that does not match up to the wires in my car.
Told you it was screwy. I figured out via trial and error and didn't blow any fuses in the process. 6 hours for a simple cd player install. I will post the wire colors and waht they are when I can type without wanting to beat the keyboard. |

well the constant you could always run a wire from the battery with a 30 amp in-line fuse attached.
For the Ignition / accessory lead if you can't for some reason find the stereo one, you can alway tie it into the power lead to the cigarette lighter. I know you've got it done, but just in case it didn't work there's my 2 cents. |

Thanks for the tips, I figured that is what I was going to have to do, then I decided against it and got on my bike and went down to the hardware store for a volt meter then tried each of the leftover wires with the key in various positions.
Finally figured it out and stuck a bunch of the diff wiring colors that I found on the net and my own findings up on my site. This sony deck is really sweet, btw. http://www.remarcable.net/misc/legacy_outback/ |

I can't promise this is correct, but it worked for me... except my reciever still loses all memory and radio settings when I turn the car off! (It is now linked again in the mods section on my site, sorry bout that0
Here is how my 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback had the stereo stuff wired. Blue/Red - Power supplied when ignition is off (for memory stuff like clock, etc) Yellow - power on in accessory mode White/Green - ? Green/Orange - ? Yellow/Blue - ? Speakers: Red/Yellow -Front Right Positive White/Black - Front Right Negative Brown/White - Front Left Positive Green - Front Left Negative Blue/Yellow - Rear Right Positive Red/White - Rear Right Negative White/Red - Rear Left Positive Red/Black - Rear Left Negative |
