That's a tough one. Both suggestions are great.

I got my turboback first, then the UTEC. Either way both will complement each other, you could add the UTEC later and use stage2 after the exhaust.

The UTEC would be cheaper, easier to install and very stealthy.
You could also pull it out easily for "warantee related issues" that would not be the case with the other option.
It is also something that can adapt to any mod you do later on, stage 2, 3, 4.... 23, ect.

So, in short, I have no opinion, sorry for wasting your time.
Either way you can't loose.

Steve..

MRT turbo-back + uppipe ~ $1350 (30hp)

Next,

AccessECU reflash ~ $400

This combo alone will net you about 300hp. Also there is an Access port coming late next month which will allow YOU to do the reflash. You can also tune the car with the reflash as you add other mods (just like a UTEC, but cheaper and stealthier)

Your a little high on your hp estimate.
Stock WRX = 165ish whp
Turboback = 25ish whp
uppipe = 10ish whp
AccessECU = 25ish whp
Total = 225 wheel HP
Total = 285 Crank HP

Of course this all depends on which dyno you use.

To add up hp figures based on parts... It to count your chickens before they hatch.

Its a very good way to impress your friends tho.

hmm, i'm actually looking to talk to the guys as massimo performance (thewrxstore.com), and seeing if I can get a stage 2 package price using one of their DP's and the JIC 505 Ti. Maybe a total package of like $2200, and have the UTEC come tuned for Stage 2. Then all I'd have to do would be to tweak the map for my intake and the pulleys, and I'd probably have some serious hp...
