Question Weight bias, F/R. Tried search...

Does anyone know what the weight bias is front to rear for the new WRX?

Also, is it the same for the wagon and sedan?

I've tried a search, and I've tried the web sites, but to no avail.

The answer might influence my decision: Wagon, or sedan? Hmmmm... But that's another topic.

60F/40R, same for sedan/wagon. I don't know if I believe it though.

I don't know, that doesn't quite seem right. I'd figure more like 55/45, especially for the wagon, with the extra 100lb on the rear.

If you guys want to even wieght. Do what the guys in F1 do. Put wieghts in the back and it will even it out. But why does it matter if the wieght is 60/40. That makes it easyer to drift and power slide. I guess 50/50 would be best. But what are you going to do.

As a matter of fact the RS, like any other GC8 impreza, is 58/42. I don't know what the 1st gen wagon is for certain but I believe it is only marginally better, perhaps 56-57% on the front. 57 I believe.

And as far as what is "best", that depends. More weight out back isn't a bad thing for handling, usually helps acceleration (for a RWD car, maybe not for one putting 50% power to the front tires) and absolutely improves braking performance.

But it also makes the basic nature of the vehicle to be oversteer once you get over 50/50, and that is something most American drivers cannot deal well with.

The motor is heavier first of all and Subaru obviously included the factory ALUMINUM hood for a reason. What car manufacturer does that? You'd think it'd be better though bein' a 4-door n all. The AWD system SHOULD put a lot of weight in the rear. Hmmmmmm. I wonder if the structural improvements were mostly made up-front. Makes you wanna order the aluminum a-arms, eh?
