Im in PA where the salt on the roads is plentiful.

'96 Legacy, '99 Legacy, and an '01 Impreza and no rust to be seen on any of them.

Now our '88 Prelude. That thing rusted 5 minutes after we got home from the dealer.

No rust period. Constantly keep the car maintain to tip top specs, that means cleaning the car every other weekend. washed, waxed, vacuumed, and clean under body of the car.

Good 'ol 97 BD just got cancer on the trunk, from bubbles to BAM in only a few months. The rest is still clean, NE ohio with frequent roadtrips to MN, 111k, and yes I wash/wax often.

To the guy above: watch the truck gasket!

Default No rust on '95 in Utah

No rust at all after 184k miles driven along the salty inland sea. Salt is basically free here so they throw it liberally along all of our roads from November until May. That 10% humidity might help a little

ok mine are older than what y'all are talkin bout.... but here goes

my 94 wagon only has rust where it has been dinged, so that is self-imposed (or, I mean, imposed by the person who dinged the car for me).

Other than that, this car is pretty solid.... started life in NJ, then spent most of it's life in TN until I bought it in 2006. The only problem I see brewing is the rear wheel wells, since the car has made several trips to Michigan during winter. But no rust-thru yet...

My old 93 wagon was basically the same way, and that included 5 years living in Taxachusetts. It was pretty rust-free except for where it got dinged. It's been in Georgia since 98... and i'm getting it back this week, after 5 yrs being with other friends.

The only rust on the whole car just started on the right rear fender corner.

To anyone who thinks they have no rust, do a swap...you'll get up close and personal with all the parts of the car that are happily rusting away but you can't see!

My car had only one spot of rust on the body, a dime-sized bubble on the passenger side rear wheel well corner (below the fuel door), it's currently ground back and primed awaiting paint.

The other spot that's rusting is the sunroof frame...not sure yet whether I'll try to fix that or look for a non-rusted sunroof.

Once I got it apart I saw that all the welds on the rear subframe were rusting (now brushed back and repainted), the brackets for the exhaust heatshields are all rusted, the list goes on and on.

I've tried to take care of all the rust I can while it's apart, but I know a lot of it is just going to rust again especially with the salt up here.

One spot I keep an eye on also is the corner behind the front wheel wells. On my car it tends to fill up with leaves and dirt that trap moisture in there. Any time I have the fender liners off I clean it all out. You can also get to it through the gap at the front of the door if you have the door 1/2 open.
