Default How to swap 2004 STi steering rack into 2002 WRX wagon

I have a wrecked 2002 WRX wagon that I am rebuilding for rally use. There may be some damage to the steering rack, and so it though it might be nice to replace it with a faster rack from an STi if it needs replacing anyway. A new one can be had from 1stSubaruParts.com for $457.62, cheaper than the wagon unit! ($507.50). Of course there are a bunch of unanswered questions for me:

* will the rack bolt in place?
* accept the steering column?
* mate to the wagon PS lines?
* the wagon has a 1" narrower track, so where is the STi rack wider? in the the inner/outer tie rods (which I could maybe swap), or in the rack itself?

* has anyone done this on a wagon?
* on a sedan?

thanks!

Colby
