New thread member chiming in. Proud owner of a 2012 STI Plasma Blue Pearl Base Model (OEM Fog Light Kit and Short Throw Shifter included). Picked up the car Monday 3/5/2012. Car arrived at dealership on Friday 3/2/2012 and instead of waiting for my 2012 DGM STI Limited...I fell in love with the car.

Flashed COBB Stage 1 yesterday and will be going State 2 on Sunday. After brake in, my tuner will Pro Tune it with the rest of the parts.

Goodies came in today.

-Q300 Invidia Quad Titanium Tip CBE
-Perrin Cold Air Intake
-DW65 Fuel Pump
-Go Fast Bits Recirc BOV
-GFB Boost Controller
-GrimmSpeed Electronic Boost Control Solenoid
-Prosport Wideband and Boost Gauge w/ White needle to match
-JDM Rear Fog Light Kit

Parts kept from the previous car

-Invidia Catless DP
-SPT Battery Tie Down
-White LED Changing Color Turn Signals
-White LED Dome and Map Light Bulbs
-Hella Tones (Not sure what color to paint them, they are white as of now)
-SMY Dual Gauge Cluster
-Perrin Shorty Antenna

Traded in my 08 WRX SWP...Going to miss that car...Good memories!

I was thinking the same thing but I guess he's going to be easy on it during the break-in period even though he will be Stage 2 on Sunday....

Car only has 210 miles on it...I have been going through the brake in process. The stock map is ****...I just flashed it Stage 1 for now....but as I said Stage 2 this weekend...A TBE and a Cobb off the shelf map will not harm the car, it's how you drive it for the first ~1000k so miles that will do any damage. The car has barely seen any boost yet. Of course once my tuner pro tunes it with fuel pump, CAI, BOV, etc...he will have to WOT it...so obsviously I'm not doing it until I reach 1k and drop the oil and switch to Rotella T6.

My tuner who is a well respected tuner in the country wanted me to flash the car before leaving the dealer...but I didn't have the AP on me.

What kind of power increase do you get from just flashing stage 1" Is it more of a better running engine versus power increase?

I really really have a hard time believing that the stock map is that bad, and any modifications usually aren't great for your car. Not necessarily bad but they will wear out other parts related to them faster. To be honest I don't think modding a car with 200 miles is a great thing. So much for your warranty.

I would imagine that anyone that has the money to tune a brand new car immediately after buying it probably has the means to pick up new or rebuilt drivetrain components and isn't really worried about the warranty.

And clearly loves subie's. For the xtra $15K he could have stepped up to a BMW 335 or the like.

So...I went in to a dealership about 60 miles away to check out PBP in person. It was an '11 STi hatch, but it was sold and the owner was supposed to pick it up tomorrow. I absolutely love the color. I ordered my '12 WRX premium hatch in PBP. Now I just have to wait 2-3 months. It's gonna be a long wait, but I know it'll be worth it! I can't wait to add to this thread.

I 2nd motion that. Even IF the stock map is THAT BAD. You still have warranty to cover it!!!! People dont know what warranty can do. Once you flash that bad boy, and dealer tells SOA whats up. SOA loss and prevention will come here. Find you, and then next thing you know, you are bitching on the warranty thread section of how SOA is a piece of poopy doo doo because they denied your warranty claim.
PS. If you have a 2007 subaru wrx sti and you are complaining about the horrible stock map. I can sympathise, anything else, just wasting badnwidth n memories.

amp2oo1, nice ride, when your rally amour flaps fall off. Try ikea dralla cutting board. But then again, if you can afford a corvette,i think you can afford another rally amour flaps, but here is the link anyway, i found on the forum. Going to do that to my 2012 pbp

Default Buying car for the PBP

I was not sure what I was going to do, but I like the color so much I ordered one. Unfortunately I do not think the WRX limited is worth the 30K they want for it, there are better options for the price. Alas, if the car is not built with at least decent quality I guess I can always sell it right. I just think they have too many rattles and are a little behind on the technology compared to the other options at this price, I know I know, this car is for purists. The 5 speed with the crappy gearing is the worst part. Sorry had to get that off my chest. Anyhow, amazing color and props to all that own it.

The stock tune is usually horrible on the 11 and 12 cars. Stock tunes run about 14:1 AFR way to far into (boost) the torque curve. A stage 1 tune is a great way to enrich the AFR, aka safer and better for the car than the stock tune. Modding a car does not mean anything as far as wear goes unless you are talking about CAI (stupid to ever add to this car without a tune) or suspension parts or even heavy wheels. How you drive the car is all that matters. I had a 2005 Evo MR with the so called weak 6 speed. I put 20K miles on that car, quite a few launches and tons of aggressive driving and never even needed a clutch (drove like new when I sold it). BTW, that was with a TBE and tune (70 extra WHP) the whole time. Things like slipping the clutch excessively, no lift shifting, poor shifting are what damage cars not mods.

JMO of course.

I never understood the mud flap thing. None of these people go off road or drive where a mud flap would help and they look UGLY as all hell. Say no to mud flaps
