Nice. How's the speed density working out? Any plans to rotate the intake manifold?

No need to worry about having a huge MAF housing and it makes drivability amazing! We were originally going to flip the manifold but decided to just go this route for the time being, at least until winter |

Beautifull parts, car and build, no question about it, but I am not very impressed by the powerband tbh: only 120 hp at 4K rpm?!
And a powerband of only 1000 rpm (5250-6250) ? Somehow the combination of cams and turbo seems off to me compared to lots of other builds here in PPB. |

I love seeing threads in which I feel just so poor in comparison! Good work, thing is a beast!

^^^ I'd expect it to crack 600 or more once Fuel system is done and you put the kill tune on it. These turbos are impressive.

I kind of agree with an earlier poster, maybe a fixed leak or a tuning strategy change could alleviate the small'ish powerband. I hate to be a douche, but it's not looking very good as powerband goes. This graph reminds me of a certain bro tuner, trying to hit xxx whp. Nice setup op, I just wish you got a larger powerband, as u should have. I aplogize if i've offended you, please pm me and I will gladly edit my post. |

I think there's maybe a boost leak or the tune is just what it is.
This turbo has time and time again made well over 600 whp with high boost. Granted its ^making great power at low boost, just small power band. Maybe the turbo and setup is not in it's efficiency range yet. That or the tune needs brush up. |

Leak would be visible to the tuner very easily though. I'd imagine he checked the boost plot.
I honestly didn't even look at his power band but easily by 4500 it should be making power and at 25 psi (full boost so far ). |

Again, we ran out of fuel and Nate never even messed with the timing map before he lowered the boost down to 21psi(which I am driving the car on right now). For comparison, since I go to Wyotech, I have easy access to an AWD DynoJet so here are some numbers and graphs to compare my low boost maps(21psi): Mustang Dyno: 451whp/409wtq DynoJet: 484whp/458wtq http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/baseballdbk1/STI%20Build%20Thread/?action=view¤t=davestidyno.mp4 I know you guys love comparing dyno numbers :-) |

Well actually that makes more sense. The timing map comment. Depending on how the map looked he could really wake up for you once some timing down low is added. Definitely good peak power for sure. And that's a great habit on boost leak testing. I should check mine more often.

1) We built the car trying to hit the the high 500- low 600whp mark so we knew that we were going to be using a larger size turbo which is why the heads were built to rev 8500rpm 2) During the dyno tuning, Nate knew the car was only using a single in-tank DW300 fuel pump which was going to get maxed out, which happen to be @ 521whp (reason we only ran it out to 6500rpm.) Because of this, Nate never made any changes to the timing map because it would be pointless... 3) After the 521 dyno run, Nate lowered the boost to maintain safe AFR levels @ WOT until the fuel system gets upgraded (being taken care of this week!) 4) Nate tuned the car to 21psi, which made 451whp/409wtq and the car feels absolutely incredible! I trust him 100% with my car because he always tunes for reliable power, not one or the other Last edited by baseballdbk1; 08-08-2012 at 03:55 PM. |

I finally found a way to download the video from the track last thursday that my friend posted on "facespace"!
My launch was terrible bcz the car was still on winter tires(Put on new my summer tires this past saturday), this was the first time I have driven the car at the track since it was at the Stage 2 setup and the change in power is insane! :-( Low boost(21psi) 12.02 @ 125mph! http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c390/baseballdbk1/STI%20Build%20Thread/?action=view¤t=stirun.mp4 FOOD FOR THOUGHT!: I had Nate drive the sti last summer with the custom twin-scroll setup using an EVO IX FP "Red" turbo which made 420whp @ 27psi on VP110 and it went 11.36 @ 119mph ;-) |

Very nice! With 520whp it should trap 130-131mph

thanks! The ultimate goal is to hit 10.5 with full interior on 28-30psi, which should make high 500whp, so we will see what happens... ;-)
Summit is delivering my new fuel lines and fitting today, so hopefully i will have it back at the track next thursday if we get everything installed and tuned in time! |
