I am wanting to order a 2013 wrx as soon as possible, but I have a question. You see I am closing on a new house september 5th and I cannot have my credit pulled. Do dealers pull credit reports for an order? I plan to put a cash deposit down. If they do I will have to wait til september 6th to order if not I will order tomorrow. Thanks

On a side note anyone know what dealership will give the best prices in western washington is?

Most dealers will ask you for an aaplication at the time of order. They may or may not run that application right away. I am sure that if you asked them to wait until after the 6th to actually run it they would still place your order right away.

For the credit check, the dealer shouldn't have to pull credit until the car comes in and you are trying to secure financing. No point in pulling it when you order as it could take a couple months for the car to come in and credit reports are only valid for so long.

Dealerships want to ensure that an order customer is credit worthy. Many places run your report right away. Running your report is not the same as actually getting you a loan approval. Loan approvals are only good for 30 days at a time typically. Running it early is just to see the score and ensure they are worthy before putting in an order. Dealers get penalized if they put in a sold order and do not end up delivering the car to that exact person, so you don't want to place orders for people who are not going to be able to get a loan.

Understood. Though playing devil's advocate, if a sizable enough cash deposit is put down at time of order, will you waive credit check? Just curious. I offered my salesman a $500 deposit from the get-go and credit was never mentioned... maybe that's just his flavor of operating.

Sort of in the same boat, we just closed a refi on our home, and held off the car shopping for this reason.

When I was going to order a Legacy GT the dealer didn't want anything and said it's fine if you back out we will sell the car to someone else.

You have to exceed 20% failure rate of orders matching names before the penalize you. Many dealers have a big cushion so they don't care.

Here we try and get an application but would still take a deposit on an order without one if we felt good about the deal.

It is subjective. We don't have a strict policy. I do know a couple dealers who do though.

I ordered my STI 3 days ago and they didnt ask for any signatures or anything. However, I did tell them im putting $20,000 down. They also gave me a VON number right away. What website do I go to, to use it?

There is no website.

If your dealer gave Subaru an email address for you you might get some confirmations and updates from Subaru about your order. Otherwise just hang on to that VON# for now and be patient.

How soon after an order should you typically get a VON?

Does anyone know where the Subaru factory is compared to the Fukushima plant? For some reason I just had a thought that I might get a little bonus in addition to the car (free radiation).

I've been debating how much to put as a down payment, 5k, 10k, 30k? What % rate did they give you at 20k down?

Don't you know radiation gives you special powers?

it doesn't matter how much you put down. credit score is the key for your rates!

The VON(vehicle order number) is generated immediately. Your VIN is why you keep checking the system. Once it has a VIN, you know your car exists.

Not close. The only thing about Fukushima that affects Gunma is the amount of power lost with that plant not producing. I wonder how the country is doing now. How well have they adapted to that plant not in operation. I haven't seen anything, but I haven't really been paying attention either.

Just got back from the dealer and put in my order! Mastria Subaru in Raynham, MA:

DGM WRX 5-door Premium
arm rest extension
side molding
auto-dimming mirror w/ compass
all weather mats
$28.5K plus a pretty competitive trade in for a Forester XT

So, I know that this is just a bit different from some of the other order figures that you are seeing but I will at least share my experience. First of all, I hear the slimy owner of Subaru of New England finagles $500 out of EVERY Subaru sale so that comes out of the pocket of the buyer, hence larger invoice from what I can see (can anyone else validate this?). So, I was printed out the invoice sheet and the car is $27,7xx. With accessories it was about $28,250. I basically got the car for $250 over invoice with a very competitive trade in for my car - which makes that number almost seem lower.

So I am kind of wondering what others in New England are hearing. This was the second dealer I went to today and when I threw a figure of invoice at the first dealer (Somerset Subaru) they said I "Wasn't even in the same ballpark". They quoted me at $29,050K and the manager was being "nice" because I bought from them before. And they essentially were gonna give me a bag of balls for my trade in. They lived on the point that only 13 WRX's are going to New England and it did not even make sense for them to drop the car below MSRP. Again, two totally different experiences and stories with two different dealers about 25 miles apart from each other (it pays to do some shopping).

So I do not think a deal like what Mike was offering can be realized anywhere near New England from what I can see. Unless someone can tell me otherwise and kick me off my high horse. I thought I negotiated pretty well and was able to only get $250 over invoice. Maybe in other part of the country these cars can be had for a bit cheaper?

4-6 week estimated delivery; was told possible sooner. The wait is gonna absolutely kill me but it will be worth it!

Yep!!! I put 21k down when i got my 2012' and at the point I couldn't even finance thru them anymore, because they said I had to finance at least 10k. But I had all my stuff ready to go with USAA , great rates and not as many months which was perfect for me. But credit is everything when financing, the down payment is very minor part.

SDC covers NY state and Northern NJ. They own rights to selling Subaru in that region. Its basically an extra middle man you need to deal with in the process. Getting info about your order will be a bit tougher as SoA needs to get some information from SDC and vice versa.

They don't have integrated systems and basically they need to call each other for info.

+1 I got an '11 WRX and just traded in for an M3, on the 15th I placed an order for STI. I use to say I can't justify the 10k increase from WRX to STI, but look at what I'm doing right now! If you can afford the STI, get it.

Placed my order for a 2013 SWP Hatch. It will be my first Subaru, couldn't be more excited. The 2012s seemed to hard to come by in northern VA and dealers would not budge much below MSRP. I placed my order at Dulles Subaru in Leesburg, VA and they were quick to offer invoice pricing (25,1xx) along with a $398 dealer fee (I'm going to try to avoid paying this). I was also elated to find out that tax is 3%! They also offered options at cost. I opted for no options (not sure if I'm going to regret this) just to keep costs low and start with a clean slate. They said 8-10 weeks for delivery. I think I got a decent deal and can't wait.
