16gXT tuning question
Ok so I recently installed a blouch 16gXT turbo, DW 1,000cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump and a Cobb ap tuner, and a shop local to me basically f@$&ed me over,
I had had my car tuned in jersey and with stock turbo, injectors, fuel pump, and a perrin catless up-pipe and down pipe, aem short ram intake and full race 3" turbo back exhaust I put down 220awhp and after my new mods which my previous tuner said would make around 300-350awhp the ****ty tuner I went to said my car put down 250awhp @ 19psi( oh and they also told me after I made the appt to use my cobb ap as a tuner that they could only use open source) I'm not a rocket scientist but these numbers don't really add up?! And also on the ride home I tried playing with it and I went for full boost and it peaked then dropped to 15-16psi then shot back to 19 then back down to 15-16, I am so heated at this "conservative" tuner as he called himself that I want to flip!!! I spent $3,000+ for 30hp?!? Any one have any insight?

Well it sounds like they did not do a very good job, reputation is everything when selecting a shop/tuner.

id look into nightshift performance, junior is an amazing tuner. With that setup from what I've seen you can expect about 300whp and 300wtq. You probably could sell the AP and go opensource too but I'd see what junior says. Give them a call.

Damn that would be great if I was still living in jersey, I had to move back down to East Tennessee, and I'm trying to find a good tuner with a good rep down here

Top Speed is supposedly a good place, that's where Rsutton got his car tuned its in Alpharetta, GA. I don't know who the tuner is but he made almost 400whp on the stock block before it blew up (Too much power, not because of bad tune)

The tuner shouldn't be tuning it past block power levels unless it's a racecar/requested by customer.

#'s sound fine. You're expecting much too much out of that turbo. 20G's usually see 300whp on a mustang dyno. Dyno to dyno numbers vary sooo much, dont even try and compare.
If you want to make the drive to Georgia for a retune or an e-tune, PM dux10 / Pullz-On tuning. Awesome tuner, great to work with. |

My 20g only puts down around 300whp with meth, cams, tvg deleats ang el headers. For a 16g that looks about right on pump. If you want 300-350 go e85.

I trapped about ~320whp worth of speed with an evo3 7cm.. whoever has these 20gs on pump only at 300whp should really reconsider.

Yeah the tuner that I used in jersey specialized in subaru tuning, they did other vehicles but they are mainly subaru and those are the numbers that they told me, and SHOWED me on one of the workers vehicle. He had an 03 Wrx with the exact same mods on 92 octane pump gas making 348awhp on stock internals. And that was at 21psi, and they were the ones that told me exactly what to get to make those bumbers

Could be. 348whp is insane for a 16G stock motor car on any dyno.

Need to decrease WGDC. Seems as if he forgot to do this. I wouldn't be happy either, regardless of what numbers it put down.

I am going tomorrow morning to get this issue resolved and to get my car tuned they way that I wanted it to be when I first made the appt. with this tuner (using my cobb ap tuner) I have talked to Cobb and found that the tuner lied to me in more than one way on this matter. Will let you all know what goes on after tomorrow

Oh and I also cannot log anything because of how the tuner screwed me over regarding his "not renewing his license to use cobb software" which I found out was a huge lie and that once you purchase the software it's yours. So I will be having my car tuned with Cobb tuning software and not crappy opensource.

Well unlike opensource, you can tune with Cobb in REAL time and them save, but with opensource you have to do a run then tune to the specs you need then run it again. So no it's not the same not even close.
