Post 2.5 shortblock with wrx heads

I'm looking into doing this swap, just because it allows me to keep the 5 speed tranny intact.I blew a 2002 2.0 a while back and looking to spend in the $3600 range. At first I thought of going with a sti engine but it's to complicated to go throught that task so I figured going the 2.5 shortblock route would be best.If anyone can inform me on what to expect and what power potentials and add ons would be the most sufficient. Thanks

What are you looking to do? The trans is gonna bolt to whatever block you put the heads on. There isn't much difference in the difficulty no matter what block you choose.

You are going to be cutting your budget close with that, unless you go bare essentials.

if you are doing the labor on the shortblock install then it's worth the money....if not I see it being easier just to do a Ver7/8 swap...no maching costs and teardown/buildup costs...
