DRLs remain on for high-beam bulbs only. HIDs are not activated by the DRL wiring, HOWEVER, the flash-to-pass option on the lighting sstalk does fire the ballasts and engages the bi-xenon flapper, so if you flash someone while your lights are on you get both full halogen high-beam activation and low-bean HID ignition with the flapper activation.

This is how it is on my '11. YEMV.
