My 2005 OBS still has the original battery which I think would be 8 years old now. Should I replace it now be it fails? Winter is just around the corner!
Thanks. Mitch

go to auto zone or advance autoparts (or similar) and have them test it.
but being that old, you might as well replace it anyway. I recently replaced the battery in my 06 (that as far as I know) was original. Advance auto had an online code for 25% off so check their website. (I ordered the battery on my smart phone and went back into the store with the order # to get the battery installed.) |

The only battery that lasted me more than 8 years was an ACDelco bought in 2000 ($60 @ Kmart, long closed). The "green eye" stopped showing after 10 years but it still worked the same, and I replaced the battery just in case a year later. Those are not being made anymore. I'd say 5-6 years is about the maximum. But do not buy anything manufactured by Exide. Both of the Exide batteries I had over time had failed in about two years. The second one was a Bosch-labeled "premium" unit from PepBoys.
