Default Help pls: 02 WRX rear caliper doesn't mount to H6 bracket?

Problem: Original bracket has 2 threaded mounting holes for a slider (one side) and a bolt (other side) for mounting the caliper to the bracket. The H6 brackets have deep unthreaded holes where the threaded holes are on the original bracket. In fact, when I place the original caliper next to the H6 bracket, the holes do not even seem to match up (bracket holes are slightly wider than caliper holes).

Oakos confirms the parts I received are in fact the correct H6 brackets for this mod, so I am scratching my head. I was under the impression that this mod is a simple swap out, but either I am missing parts or have some older version rear caliper?

Any ideas appreciated. I did a search on this, but couldn't find anything referring to this problem. Thanks.

06 backing plates have a closer caliper hole spacing for the rear brakes. I don't know if that's what you're seeing. What's the chance someone swapped spindles in the past?

I have owned the car from new in 2002.

The problem is not the spindles themselves, but that there is no way with existing hardware to attach the calipers to the H6 brackets.

Thanks.

The H6 brackets do mount up directally!! You have t remove the dust gaurds on the rears around the drum p-brake. If you got the correct parts they work.

sounds like you have an older style caliper for some reason, which according to my info stopped getting put on cars in 99 or so. Most rear rotors and calipers are the same size, but the mounting varies.

The problem is not with mounting the brackets to the knuckle. Problem is mounting caliper to bracket.

Jamal, I think you're right, but that is an unfortunate realization! Not sure it's worth changing all these parts, new caliper changes the budget picture quite a lot for this mod.

Thanks all. GTO, I will PM u.
