Looking for a diamond broker
Can anyone recommend a diamond broker that they've had experience with or know is reputable? I've started looking into this and have found various sources online such as bluenile.ca, diamonddeals.ca, diamonds.ca. These provide good information but I'd prefer to deal with someone face to face and see the differences between the different colour grades, cuts etc. Never knew this was such a crazy hassle!
thanks |

gem goldsmith in Capilano mall is who I talked to for my wife's engagement and wedding rings
Thai is the owner and he's a good guy to talk to. His wife Nancy runs the Park royal store. She's also really good. Tell them that Tim recommended them. They're good places to start. I started my searching at Spence diamonds, but their pricing and designs weren't that great. A custom goldsmith will make your ring (if you're looking for a ring...) to order and will be able to negotiate better pricing for you. -Tim |

Diamonddeals.ca is actually just their online presence, it's a traditional BAM store. Prices are great there in all honesty (I used them) but then again, I think as long as you're using a proper jeweller/broker you'll get good prices. If you do decide to go with Diamonddeals just email them, ask for Sandy and tell her Kent referred you.
Oh and it also seems like you would like to be educated about diamonds and such, so I'd definitely recommend going to Spence just so they can give you their presentation. You'll learn about the different grades and actual visible differences so you can make an educated decision on what you want to get. Then move on to a private jeweller to get what you want at a better price. Birks does a good job of educating buyers as well. |

This guy is based out downtown on Granville street.
http://www.diamondfile.com/ He's a good guy and has good prices. He has rough prices listed on his website. He can custom make any ring you want and does quality work. He does work for some high profile big jewelry stores in Vancouver. You can call him to make an appointment for a face to face meet and he's a nice guy and very informative. |
