just curious guys I have a 13 wrx hatch but don't they come with a feature where it tells you an estimate of the total range for your current tank of gas? I remember the sedan had it when I went to test drive it

Both cars have the same stuff: if you are on one of the trip odometers you will get an average mpg status next to the clock, but AFAIK there's no range info.

You have to have the odometer set to "Trip A" or "B". Then drive for a bit. It will pop up next to the clock.

I have an all highway commute and I'm only getting 300 miles per tank? Does the car need to be broken in? Thoughts?
FYI I don't have a WRX. I measure my mileage just like Jack does (the accurate way) and consistently get 30 to 32 MPG for the worst kind of stop and go around town driving with car hardly broken in. That's 448 miles per tank driving until it's on fumes @1/2 gal. left on a 2012 Impreza 2.0. For all that economy I have to drive an Automatic low powered car that should be fun to drive. I wish I had said screw it and got a standard shift WRX.

Thoughts? Enjoy your car and don'[t count miles. YOLO.

PS The in dash computer that tells you the MPG is optomistic by about 10% by my calculations.

I thought I was getting average mileage for a stage 2 car. I guess not. I'm getting 22.2mpg the last few thousand miles. Stock I was seeing upwards of 25mpg. Honestly, I could care less. You probably shouldn't either. If I cared so deeply about gas mileage, I wouldn't daily-drive a car that requires 93 octane.

My stage 2 STi gets 20MPG city or highway. I stopped resetting the trip meter when I fill up because there's nothing I can do to change it, it'll get what it gets.

Im full stock 13 wrx still and get 18 city when i push a little, 20mpg normal city, around 23-24 driving highway at about 70-75. I haven't had it that long and just got out of the recommended break in so I don't know about when I floor it .

And the dash mpg is always one mpg higher than my trip/gas pump calculations...the above are my calcs not the car's.

I have a '13 sedan with all supporting mods, protune, and stock turbo. I get 14.5 mpg local driving and 20mpg on a long drive. My gas light usually comes on by 215 miles.

lets just use my ford excursion as a quick example
8000# truck with 7.3L diesel.
when doing 65-68mph on highway i can get 25-26mpg
68-71 is 20
71-75 is 18
75+ is 16ish

i have an 02 f250 with a 7.3 diesel and it probably gets 19-20 highway at best running 75.......i did pull 27mpg in my wrx with a mix of back roads and highway

Stock '13 WRX. My commute is back roads, but most of it is a constant 40-45mph with some lights. I average 25mpg. I got 26mpg highway doing 75mph on the 160 mile trip to Lime Rock.

Hm... lets see what I get I track every fill up on my phone for every car I currently own...

2012 WRX hatch w/ cobb protune and intake:
19.81 mpg @ 11.05 gallons filled up
21.39 mpg @ 11.74 gallons filled up
21.21 mpg @ 11.69 gallons filled up
21.41 mpg @ 12.05 gallons filled up
21.15 mpg @ 13.43 gallons filled up

I drive 65 miles a day, half of it in slow 20mph traffic the rest at 70+ on the highway. I'm not the most economic drive but it works... The evo on the other hand gets an average of 15mpg but I only drive it twice a month..

Honestly if you shift at the right spots, spend time coasting and in neutral I have gotten 27mpg before with both city and highway driving. It really depends on your driving style which varies for me.

I get about 23.1. Mostly all highway driving. I do about 80 miles a day, some days over 100. If I drive conservative I can get 28, but that means I'm usually holding up traffic in the right lane.

I have a 2011 stage II hatch and I'm consistent 25.5 - 26.8 depending on traffic. I also don't drive like a retard. I Heel-toe every downshift and never coast. Personally I think a major factor in fuel mileage is your take offs. Sub 4k for me.

i guess ill throw my sti #'s up this time.
238 miles on track and consumed 75ish gallons of 93 octane so that works out to about 3.1 mpg. yes mileage is related to right foot movement

I logged all fuel use from new on my 2006 Outback 3.0r and 2009 WRX.

Mileage goes up substantially after the first two or three tanks, then continues up more slowly until nearly 10,0000 miles. Note that many long term test cars at Car & Driver are faster at 40,000 miles than when new.

I managed 350 the other day. Gas gauge was buried. Had to see how far I could limp it.
Indicated ~24 MPG

Here's what 3.1MPG looks like in a miata (yes, my foot was to the floor)
