I went to a tuner yesterday to see what we can do about adding power to the car, it seems like there aren't going to be any significant gains without dropping in a WRX/STI engine. I can do that for less than 10,000 dollars! He thinks it will be best to go the suspension route.

So, does anyone know about springs that will work? besides of course the H&R Sport ones.

Sounds cool, but keep the car because if you drop a lot of money into your 2012 Impreza and then try to resell it you will never recoupe the investment.

Are you at little tempted to trade for a WRX or STI instead of making your own?

Of course I'm tempted to trade it.

But, there's just some appeal to me about having a performance N/A car.

Imagine the faces of people when the realize it's just a regular Impreza. I would feel more embarrassed if I got beat by a N/A model versus a Turbo WRX/STI. Problem its just super expensive and complicated to build up the car to that level.

If your goal is to "beat" people in a race, then you bought the wrong car. The Impreza wasn't designed for that goal, except maybe on a very snowy day.

It is cheaper to buy a WRX or STI than make it from scratch, and reselling a 'tuned' regular Impreza won't get you your money back -- many people will run from a car that has been heavily modified, and those that want it will be criticizing your choice of mods.

And soon a new generation of WRX and STI will be unleashed, which may look similar to what you create...

The only thing I am looking forward to is passing those fwd and rwd cars on snowy roads during the winter and I don't need wrx/sti power to do that (it would be nice to have that power but my 148hp will do).

The FA20 would be a great candidate for a swap!

Haha I was joking about racing this car, I know that it's not designed for it. I was just saying it would be funny to have a powerful N/A Impreza.

Having slightly more power and an awesome suspension would create the perfect drive for me.

Especially here in Oregon where we have the coast and mountain drives. I love the grip.

Here to confirm as well that Moore Performance is making an axelback exhaust for sedans! This is his email response to me:

We will be making other versions of this axleback for models that actually are designed to exit the rear bumper. I'll keep you posted and we are planning to do a group buy on these pieces especially b/c of the huge interest we have experienced since we posted the photos! I'll keep you up to date and are you local to the Pittsburgh are or are you out of state? Thanks and let me know.

Ryan Moore

From the sound of it, he may need a Sedan to swing by his shop. I emailed him back to confirm if he does. I'll keep you guys posted!

Will an axleback void the warranty? I figured it wouldnt since its not a performance exhaust, its really just for sound

you should head over to the deny warranty claim thread. they even said because of tire wear meant that he abused the car.

Not likely that they would give you a problem for an axle back. For STI's dealers will usually only give you a hard time for downpipes if you go in with a blown motor. Denial of warranty coverage are guided under the Magnusson Moss act, which states that the dealer has to prove that the aftermarket part contributed to the failure.

Hey guys, I am new to Subaru. I also emailed Moore, and they gave me an estimate of 400$ if I did not do the group buy. So if you guys are down I may be in as well. I also called another body shop and they gave me an estimate of 275$ out the door (with muffler). Only down side is I have no idea what the other place's work is like.

What quality of materials is Moore using for their piping/flange/hangers, 304 stainless or just painted mild steel?
