I'd rather the guy in oncoming traffic can warn me about the hazard coming up around the corner.

You're never going to be able eliminate the people who can't see their bright blue light on their dash, but having high beams allows you to let them know they're blinding everyone

Yes, I just realized that. My stab was at the picture and I agree that putting a LED substitute bulb that doesn't put out the same or higher output of the incandesant bulb is sacrificing safety. If the DRL and HiBeam were different bulbs then I would have swapped them out a long time ago but no go. The 7Watt Cree 9005 is probably the closest thing out there in terms of output for HiBeam but falls short and I won't swap my incan 9005s out for LEDs for the 99.95% of my DRL function because the other .05% I may need my HiBeams..

I need to unsubscribe, i just realized there's 136 pages of people taking about LED bulbs in an aftermarket performance thread.

I've lost IQ points just participating in this nonsense

Who said anything about this being an exclusive aftermarket "performance" thread. Look at the title: Aftermarket for 2012 Impreza yet?.... Says nothing about performance.

I do, however, agree that LEDs are no substitue for high or low beams no matter how "cool" they look.

agreed, but for those who want to replace their high/low beams with led, i want them to go ahead and let darwinism take over.

I thought the whole convo was HID for low beams & wanting LED for DRLs but looking for a way to do it without disabling the high beams.

It's fine to act so flippantly when the decision you make affects nobody but yourself. But this decision you've made could potentially affect others due to the reduced safety you've introduced to your car. Because you've decreased your visibility by removing hi-beam functionality, the potential of you getting into an accident increases. If you were to get into an accident because you couldn't see something that hi beams would have revealed, then not only do you risk harm to yourself, but also to the passengers in your car, pedestrians near your car, occupants of other cars that you might hit, and so on.

To do something simply because you like the way it looks, all while disregarding the safety issue, is irresponsible.

i honestly wasnt happy about losing hi-beams. i still have the oem bulbs so i can replace them for winter.

reasons i chose leds regardless: bulbs were cheap, looks nice, low beams work great, use hi-beams very-rarely (if ever) anyway, jersey shore weather is pretty mild.

the only regret i have is not being able to flash people who are blinding me. ( i still can kinda, i just wont blind them back )

calm down guys, not like im using hids in stock housings :flamesuit:

All of Moore's parts are made with 304. The flanges are super thick and tough. I have their internal wastegate-divorced downpipe and it is a very high quality piece.

I'm quite sure their production pieces are exactly what you have described. But the particular axle back I was referring to actually was made with painted steel and a stainless Aero resonator joined with crude looking mig welds. I was very shocked to see that, as I have heard nothing but good things about Moore and people on here seem to love them.
BTW, one can purchase the exact same materials made to construct that axle back (on sites such as Verocious Motorsports) without any discount for less than $100. Moore charged that customer $390 (materials + labor). Ouch

Hopefully the final product Moore creates for our cars are top notch. Fingers crossed.

Or so much for his group buy.

I just emailed Moore Performance asking what our axle back is made from, mentioning how their other parts are manufactured from 304. I'll keep you all posted.

Instead of criticizing their pricing, why don't you hurry and release an axleback for much cheaper? Moore can charge whatever they want so long as it's what people will pay. People buy exhaust systems because they don't know or don't care to weld their own.

^^agreed. I could build my own custom exhaust especially when the shop next to my work place is a friend that custom makes exhausts or buy one. if i am willing to pay for it, why does it matter. yea, the cost may be high but if i like the look and like the sound, who cares.

I always thought you couldn't have too much light or too much visibility for that matter. I have dual high beams, halogen ones and high beams from my bi-xenon HID projectors. It's quite awesome.

My comment about Moore's price was more directed at an earlier post where someone said their local shop could fab one up for $275. I originally thought it was comparing apples and oranges, as I assumed Morre's version would have been full 304ss with nice tig welds, I was wrong. That being said, Moore can charge $1000 for the same thing and if people are willing to pay it, then more power to them (pun intended). Business is business and god only knows how high their overhead is, their electric bill is probably more than my annual income.

I will come out with an axleback that is better for cheaper, but I won't hurry. Quality and proper development takes time. Oh, but here is the first 2.0i 4-1 UEL header on planet earth: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2421009.

I am no authority on the matter, but i assume that Moore will have the exhausts for the group buy manufactured at the same facility that manufactures their other parts. If that is the case, then they will probably be robotic welded and made from 304.
