I know it's a little pricey but stromung CBE is a great choice for our cars. I have a full single tip XA stromung CBE on my 07 wagon and love it.

My question, are you also considering headers & HFC as well or only CBE.

Reaason: With a stromung CBE or other company CBE your car will sound better but you still won't have the boxer burble/rumble.

For this you will need UEL header setup and a HFC or used 05 or earlier catpipe (which are hard to find used)

For UEL header setup, you can go borla or ebay knockoffs, HFC (high flow cat) you can go with stromung or random tech (random tech is super pricey though), some ppl have a catpipe fabbed from a local shop. You will need to extend the 2nd 02 wire, you can get a kit from kasper and also for good measure an 02 spacer from rallitek to help with the code you car might throw.

MY02 thru MY05 have UEL headers.
The MY06 and MY07 have EL headers.

From what I have heard if you go for the UEL headers on the MY06-07 you will lose some power.
Someone else please confirm if my last statetemt is correct.

With just a muffler, 1-3hp gains with a custom job. Not anything to write home about. More gains with an intake. The 'nice boxer rumble' will be more noticable or pronounced with an unequal length header like the Borla. Good luck!

The power lose of UEL's is so little you probably wouldn't really notice the loss of power in every day driving, why worry though, our NA's don't have big number outputs to begin with so a few HP loss is not going to make or break anything in terms of perfomance.

Age old debate but I feel the boxer rumble is worth a tad power loss, it's what makes a suby boxer in my mind.

Don't forget, if you do a HFC that kinda helps keep the power loss to a minimum as you are freeing up the exhaust flow.

Where is this info documented? The last info on this I remember is from the Borlas being compared to .....eh..er...uhm....can't remember the equal length header that was tested. The equal length made more power than the Borlas but the Borlas made more power than stock. It was a difference of 8whp+ for the Borlas and around 14-15whp for the other brand (Sorry...slipping my mind).

There may have been a ton of new information since then but I have not been around these parts for a while.

WOWSERS! this is completely wrong. i have stated this millions of times in other posts. REMOVE THE 2ND "NON-FUNCTIONAL" CAT [AKA RESINATOR] FOR THAT 'BOXER RUMBLE'.

i have a full custom header back exhaust on my 2007 2.5i and it has NOT thrown any CEL's & i'm running catless!
