what good would a fuel cut defender do on a WRX with an CAI & dual stage boost control. I'm to broke to afford a unichip or some kind of engine managment right onw.

A fuel cut defender/defencer/defenser (FCD) will allow you to run much higher boost. The question of "what good" it (an FCD) does is open to discussion. I'm sure that many variables (beyond performance) were considered at FHI before settling on its current WRX ECU boost limits, not the least of which is the California Emissions Warranty which requires that Subaru repace any turbo or precat that fails within the first 7 yrs/70K miles.

If you are at the point where you need a fuel cut defencer, you are running far too much booost. Your next nmod, in case you don't have it, is an exhaust
