HKS fuel cut defender?? are you using it?
I am looking for any input from people who are actually using the HKS fcd...
-how well does it work? -where does it tap into? -have you had any problems with it? -pros/cons? etc.. etc... TIA

Ever thought of searching? There were a few posts a while back that people had installed it and found some caveats, etc.
Other then that, it worked for them. Try FCD as a search word |

I use the HKS FCD with my VF30, STI injectors, HKS EVCIV & HKS SAFR etc. Since installing the FCD, I have yet to hit boost cut and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It is completely invisible, which is exactly its purpose...
You can tap into the ECU - which wires exactly, I forget, but call HKS USA and they will give you the exact colors/codes and get the wiring diagram off of www.northursalia.com Also, I set the FCD to "10". Are you using a bigger than stock turbo? cause the stock turbo probably doesn't work great above 16.5 psi...... |

One word : potentiometer.
It works, it's simple, and it's cheap. Just worry about lack of fueling when you get into the higher boost levels. |

I agree with 8Complex. The HKS item is very cheap and simple but the MkIV guys say stay away from it. The GReddy BCC is a clamp, so it's better in design. I don't know if it will work for the EJ20 or not.

I use the mrt and it is a clamp. It is pretty cheap and so far works just fine.

I have STI injectors, supra pump, APS R/T spec kit. seems to cut something at heavy boost over 120MPH(really pushing the car(18-19)PSI Since I have a unichip it should remove fuel cut?right? I was told maybe I have air prob? I think I need a clamp. what do you think? |

I have a Vishnu Stage 2 (unichip) and I get the cut in 4th gear and it's annoying as hell. Second and third gear I get a nice 17.5 psi then on a cold day I get 18 psi in fourth and experience boost cut. I run a MBC and like it, except for this. I am really looking into getting a FCD but am worried about overboosting. I have the pump and STI injectors, is it okay to get like 18-19 psi?

Try pm'ing Pace
He made a few of them, I'm running his right now. Some loose details: - Adjustable clamp-type FCD. - Professional black-box packaging. - Requires splicing into ECM harness (3 wires). - Installation instructions included for UTec'd cars, as well as for those with no aftermarket EMS. - Pre-configured clamp voltage with instructions on adjustment (should not be necessary). - In-built circuit protection from voltage spikes. - To be priced under $50. |
