Talking Ques: MAF = toasted; how long can i drive in limp mode?

MAF is gone.. i have to work tomorrow, and no time to go to dealer yet. How long can i drive with the MAF unplugged? is it safe?

Okay, gotta bite.... What's the MAF?

(I must know what it is, just don't recognize the acronym.)

MAF = Mass Air Flow meeter -- it's a little doohickey that measures the amount of airflow through the intake so that the ECU knows how much fuel to send. The 99 MAF's seem to be quite delicate and are known to "die" on aftermarket intakes.

you can run on it for days, but your gas milage will turn to crap. if you pay close enough attention you can watch the needle move. You might fry a cat or o2 sensor running that rich too (but I don't know if that's true)
