Cusco Brake Master Cylinder Brace
So I've been skeptical about this part for a long long time and after reading so many reviews ravving about it, I decided to give it a whirl.
Here's the break down: Product finish and fit: Perfect! Everything was included in the packaging and everything fit the way it should. No problems here. No instructions were included but its straight-forward. Installation: Install is straight forward. Took me about an hour because I have fat fingers so I couldn't reach everything easily but someone with smaller hands could do it in a lot less time. I installed this on my 02 WRX but installation should be the same across 02-07 Imprezas. The important part...did it make a difference and is it worth it? This is a tough question to answer so I will start off with giving my setup: I have LGT front and rear calipers, stainless steel brakes lines, Carbotech XP10s in the front and XP8s in the rear, and brake fluid is Super Blue. My car already has a good amount of stopping power but brake feel is garbage like any non-STi car. The brace made SLIGHT difference in feel but its nothing drastic. Brake feel is still garbage and the pedal isn't rock solid like an STi. This goes back to floating vs. fixed brake calipers; WRX has the former while STis have the latter. The brace did make a difference under HARD braking and gave the pedal some extra length at the bottom but thats it. The firewall still flexes with the brace on. Is it worth it? The answer is no. I bought mine only because I got it for below retail and I had already upgraded every other part of brake system and I was curios as to whether this would make the difference and it didn't. It is over-hyped and a waste in my opinion. You can spend your money elsewhere and get better value for your money.

I didn't think it made a big difference, but then again I run track pads so my bite is pretty good regardless. If I had a $100 I would spend it on brake lines or do autocross sessions.

Wow, dude, I have one and its next on my list (after ALK) of best mods. Its well worth the 100 bux. It added significantly more pedal feel/modulation. Are you sure you added enough preload with the screw? Subie people who drive my car are all "wow, what brakes do you run?"

i could definitely feel a difference under hard braking, and overall the pedal does fell stiffer. also cusco's design is much beefer than the perrin brace which looks kind of cheap.

we did some measuring when we designed ours. Even the cusco has a good bit of movement so you'll really need to preload the MC bolt to really feel it.

have someone bury their foot into your brake pedal while you watch the master cylinder, the difference it makes'll become aparent rather quickly. the amount of flex in the firewall without a brace is insane (though I have the perrin one, though with proper bolt load they should all be basically the same)

LGT brakes being sloppy is a recurring theme.
Lots of mass and big pads/rotors - but that ain't the whole answer. It's probably less than $1g for used Brembo's, cheap rotors and appropriate pads - maybe add the larger Sub. MC. Learn it, know it, live it
