I'm not amazed that your response was nothing but rude. Also not very surprised that you couldn't address any of my points and questions posed to you, hence proving that you've got no credibility cutting up products made by Group A, and products made by Drive Dynamics.

If you have a personal issue, it's only honest to keep it out of business.

And just for the record, you were given a chance at the deal. What did you expect? Do nothing and get everything? That's not how that works, and I'm sure you understand that. The work that you were given, you couldn't even do. I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. And just in case you don't, "I fell asleep" is just plain lousy. As a person trusting you with a clientèle that I have started to develop, you telling me "I fell asleep" was an irresponsibility on your side, not mine.

PATR, Ed, shut up and get the hell out of the thread. It's obvious you two have personal issues. Take it to PM.

But having an opinion on a product that I believe that the money should be spent on other mods doesn't count? Aside from that you already know why I disapprove of Group A in general. Secondly, I didn't even bring up your Drive Dynamics at any time? So what's there to say about that?

Seriously though Alex, I did have respect for you until you did what you did. I even told you in Brampton when we went to pick up those lips together but I know at that point your mind was elsewhere already.

But in my defense, I did do something. I tried to help out with that group buy but you wouldn't let me. You didn't even give me anything to do because you kept it all to yourself. Whenever people PM'd me about the lips, I would tell you and you would just say "Tell them to PM me" Well, if we were supposed to be running that together, how was that keeping me in the picture?

I don't even remember what you were talking about when I said I fell asleep but you very well know my situation at the time. I worked midnights man. You know exactly how tired I was the day I detailed your ex's and your car that day.

All that aside man, this was an issue that's long overdue for setting straight. All this time I've just been keeping to myself while you're doing your thing and I'm doing mine.

I'm running a Group A TBS and Cosmo SRI

... and it's great! The SRI was installed first, and the sound was great, but i lost a bit of torque in the low end (below 4,000 RPM). The car was a bit weaker below 4,000, but once it hit that line it exploded and acceleration doubled... you could really feel the boost in power.

The TBS changes the whole thing. The powerban shifts down about 750 RPM so it explodes at 3250 RPM... which makes a world of difference. The sound from the SRI, which is incredible to begin with, starts at a lower RPM. It also feels like the lost torque at the very low RPM's (1500-ish) is back to normal. Quite worth it for a few extra horsepower and that amazing sound!

Combined prices was about $220 for both parts, and they work great together!

^ nice little write up.
I had intended to buy the group A TBS, last year, but later changed my mind to a Cosmo SRI. My setup now is SRI + lw pulley. I'm THINKING of getting the Group A TBS, but I don't even know if i'll feel any difference at all even with butt dyno. After the intake install, pulley, and custom exhaust install, I felt a BIG difference from stock, but I seriously don't feel or think that the TBS would help me now at this stage. I mean, yes, I could get it to 'complete' my bolt on modifications to the engine, but is it worth the money? I'll be getting wrx headers soon, and having a friend help me modify it to fit, for that boxer rumble, but $100 for a tbs, seems a tad bit pricey to me.

Just me 2 cents.

I'm on the fence too. I dont have a lw pulley but i do have the cosmo SRI and 2 1/4" catback exhaust. I'm debating still.

I am not sure I understand the theory behind how the aluminum spacer would help. I mean I can understand SRI or light crank pulley. What will the spacer benefit that Subaru engineers don't know and cost very little to incorporate at the factory?

These spacers were originally intended to be used on old carbureted engines to increase the Plenum volume. They didn't always show an improvement on those engines with bigger bores and smaller volume runners than our Subaru engines have. In some cases they even reduced power.

I honestly don't see how they could benefit these engines.

It's supposed to expand your intake plenum so you get more response in the lower revs - some of the other TBS' for other cars have vanes in them so the gas can be better atomized. TBS' were known to work on carburated cars - people thought why not EFI cars? Sometimes that's just not the case though...

So instead of 0-60 in 7 seconds... its in 3.5

(IAT is will remain unchanged with/without IM spacer for given ambient temp) Credit to Grimmspeed who pointed this out, unsure if this is for all Subaru's, stands for 05+.
2000-2001 RS's are MAP so IAT are taken on the manifold I believe. But most subaru's do have MAF so that would generally apply to many other people as well.

Yes, I understand the concept of any turbulence in the air intake is WORSE, but this is not a tornado fuel saver, therefore the bad effects (if any) would be negligible. Turbulence in the combustiong chamber isn't bad i.e. GM's vortec heads and Ford's GT-40. So, I don't find it to be of concern at all but you are right.

Do I think it's a waste, sort of. I have one, but I decided to buy one because I've had 3 of them on different Jeep Wranglers before and they increased my MPG and added a little more pep. I'm not talking V8s either, one I6 and 2-2.5L 4 cylinders.

Duly noted, I didn't expect much from it; therefore I wasn't disappointed. I just happened to have $90 to spend and anything to help MPG is ok with me.

The TBS won't get you turbulence in the combustion chamber though. i-AVLS does to some extent though.

What did you get from it? You kind of left that out.

I agree, again. I should have stated that in my previous post, but I was more or less tied up with putting forth knowledge so I didn't come across as an uber noob thinking a whirlwind in my intake would give me a bajillion horsepower.

I think I'll try this manifold spacer from grimmspeed. Anyone else have any bad or good things to say about it.

Justin @ Grimmspeed is a great guy to deal with. Good luck on the install with your '05. The EGR recirc. tube is a b**** to manipulate to accomodate the 8mm rise in the intake manifold. Make sure you get four OEM IM gaskets to sandwich each IM spacer. Also, I'd suggest using a one step longer bolt than he provides, I managed to strip the first few threads out of one the holes on the block (not a good thing). One step longer bolts did the trick and allowed me to drive on without fear (no, they don't bottom out either).

I'll be installing a Group A TB spacer in the coming week or so to be dyno tested for a vender on Subaruforester.org. Also being installed that day will be an intake (hopefully), STI catback exhaust, Grimmspeed 8mm Phenolic intake manifold spacers and a grounding kit. Not shooting for insane gains but more so for economy....looking to hit 30mpg on average in my Forester. Ohh and it's a 1998 SF chassis N/A 2.5 Dohc.

Nick.

install the tbs first, then dyno.

There's no point when you put the TBS on with everything else. OF COURSE you'll see gains. That's almost a no brainer.
