Default AKIC Video Vault

Hello fellow AKICers.

Alot of people have been taking movies using digital cameras or HDpro's. They currently seem to be in alot of threads. Thought that we could compile them here in this thread to make them easier for others to look at.

So post your video's here.

Couple of guidelines.

1) Chris and I will clear the conversation out of the thread every 2 weeks so that way it is easier to look for videos (we will start another thread (maybe locked))
2) Videos of street racing are against the rules... so if posted they won't stay long......
3) Videos must be Car based, Alaska based (or ex-pat) and fit within the rules of nasioc.
4) Add the event that you were at in the post with a date

Any other suggestions?

Marshall piloting the Carter Bros. Unamused Rally Car to a 2nd place finish in the MAW division at the SCCA Rallycross Winter "Call of the Wild" January 15, 2011 at the Alaska State Fairgrounds

Paul piloting the Carter Bros. Unamused Rally Car to a 5th place finish (despite the dislocated patella he had earlier that morning) in the MAW division at the SCCA Rallycross Winter "Call of the Wild" January 15, 2011 at the Alaska State Fairgrounds

I have to say that Jean and I are very proud of these guys and their accomplishments with this project. Their drive and determination is unbelievable. I am not sure if anyone knows this but that car was a $200 POS basket case with a 1.8L motor, no tranny and was FWD. With some help from Evan and Rob, five days later, it was AWD, 2.5L, and running like a scared rabbit. All they asked from us was garage space. Phew...I thought they were going to ask for money.

I also have to say that we are especially proud of the fact that they have learned to race and have fun. They understand that winning isn't everything. They raced MX as kids and they were like that then. I am glad to see that it is still with them. Winning is cool and all and comes with perks but racing for the shear exhilaration of speed is where it's at.

Building a car that is made of your own blood, sweat and tears is something to be proud of. These guys have that in them. The way I see them, they are competitors competing against themselves, challenging themselves to do better, challenging each other, a team, the best kind of competitors. They run their own race.

Despite the messy garage at times, parts everywhere and tools strewn between Palmer and Anchorage. I just wanted to take a moment and say a few words about how I felt about my boys since they started this project. We are a very proud Mom and Dad of two very fine men.

This video had it all, those cool Aussie accents, a baddass Subaru (potential bike hauler), Italian motorcycles, Wheelies, nitrous and girls.

Back in my younger days. Alaska Sports Car Club auto-x at the Soldotna airport in my 1999 Impreza RS. I spin in the video. August 7 1999

And another from SCCA auto-x at the Nennana airport in 1999 in my 1999 RS. June or July 1999

That spin in the first video got me dizzy!

Man, to have auto x on a place that you can get into 3rd gear, how cool is that? Makes the road trip worth it, eh?
Thanks for your kind words.

A 4+ mile long time trial course set on the Yukon river in Whitehorse during the Alcan 5000 Winter Rally on Feb 14, 2000 in my 1999 Impreza RS.
Each car started in one minute intervals from each other. I nearly caught up to the next car at the end of the run. Warning: Bad form alert. One handed steering....

Had excessive slide in the same section where I had before spin in my 1999 Impreza RS on August 7 1999 during a fast ASCC autocross at Soldotna airport.

Airport ramps are an awesome solo space. Virtually nothing to run into. Does anyone know if any attempts have been made to use ramp space at Palmer Airport?
