It's buy your own K cups. I'm going to stay with the fresh ground beans and aeropress....I'll keep the french press here for 'meetings' but the aeropress is hands down better coffee.

I've never liked the coffee or the amount of waste with K cups. I can handle the filter in the aeropress, it is nice to not have the fines in a small cup of coffee. Better coffee, easier clean up, no fines = win for aeropress.

sorry I meant what KCup machine are they buying?

If it was the brew at ~190f I would have recommended buying this.

No, buy a gaggia for $200 instead. And don't forget a good grinder. Ask if you need suggestions.

I need suggestions... it's about time I get a manual espresso machine. Something that doesn't have a huge footprint would be ideal, and doesn't crush the bank account too bad. Still need to be able to afford your coffee, right?

Thanks. Also, I have the capresso infiniti burr grinder. While it's a fine coffee grinder, i'm guessing it's not up to espresso requirements?

Correct. You could buy a Gaggia, and play around with the Infinity, but you WILL need to upgrade ASAP. I would buy either the Baratza Virtuoso Preciso:

http://www.amazon.com/Baratza-Virtuoso-Preciso-Coffee-Grinder/dp/B003JFCRN6
Or NEW Cunill Tranquilo:

http://sovranastore.com/esgrin.html

The Cunill's eDoser is a huge bonus over the old model.

As far as espresso machines, either a Gaggia Color or Pure for ~$200, or talk to me about a $1200 Astra Pro.

Thanks, i'll review those. What are your thoughts on the Rancillo
Silvia? Seems love hate, but a lot of love from purists.

Also, any experience with their Rocky Doserless grinder?

What do you own, Poison?

Search my name and silvia in this thread. I owned Silvia for 4 years, and cannot discourage you from doing that enough. She's a piece of ****. The people 'loving' her are people who have no experience with anything else, and don't feel comfortable dissing their (retardedly expensive) $700 purchase. Abort.

There are better grinders than Rocky, but she's good. The clicks are unnecessary for espresso, and frustrating.

I have owned Gaggia, Silvia, Expobar, and now Astra Pro. The Astra Pro at $1200 is better than anything under $2000. If you can afford Silvia money, step up to the Astra. If not, buy a Gaggia. There's nothing worthwhile in between.

Thank you! it'll probably be the Gaggia pure for now to get addicted.

Not sure about the grinder. Besides grinding ability I don't love how it traps the grinds in the plastic unit that you have to pull out (Doser? still a newb). Seems like somewithout this (Doeserless?) would be benificial?

Baratza is an outstanding company, with great products. Customer service is second to none. I've experienced it first hand. The Preciso is an EXCELLENT grinder, the best you'll do under $500, with grind quality on par or better than those $500 grinders.

Don't think, click. If you dislike the grounds receptacle, buy this:

Trust me, doser/doserless/edoser/container really isn't a big deal. I've catered wedding with my dosered mazzer: clackclackclackclackx1000. Big whoop.

No, i certainly trust in you that it's a quality product. I'm curious if it's doser (the thing that holds the grinds) is more of a pain that a grinder without one?

My capresso has one, and i don't love it per se. When working with espresso, is it easier to have or not have a doser? Or does it even matter?

An electronic doser is ideal, but none are a deal-breaker.

I have the preciso with both the regular bin and the Doser. I use the reg bin. It's much tidier and you quickly learn how much to grind if you aren't weighing beforehand.

New Kenya Peaberry: In your face sweet floral and fruit notes are abundant in the dry grounds; when wet, Concord grape, honey, red berries, and chocolate notes dominate. It all carries over to the intensly syrupy and sweet, heavy-bodied cup, which is evenly balanced with a grape-skin like acidity.

Nate... About to make another order but wondering if there are any coupon codes.

Any suggestions on what to try if my favorite from you has been the Sulawesi?

Since this got bumped, I have a random question. Do you pull the descriptions from somewhere, or is your palate really that refined that you can distinguish things like the flavor of Concord grapes and, say, Swenson Red grapes? I'm not doubting your coffee palate, and mine is nowhere near as refined, but some of the descriptions of the flavors I see I couldn't tell you what they were if given a blind taste of the actual food.
