How do you install the Footwell Illumination Kit (H201SSC000) in the '09 FXT/WRX/STI?
How do you install the Footwell Illumination Kit (H201SSC000) into the '09 FXT/WRX/STI? How does it work? Does it sense the car is in Park or the door is open?

They are on all the time the lights are on.
The driver side bolts injust above the Data Link Connector and on the Forester I believe it double side taped to the foot well under tray on the passenger side. The harness then plugs in line with the mood light in the front console cubby. |

I think this kit works with the 2008/2009 Impreza line and the 2009 Forester line. Check with SOA for compatibility.
The Blue Footwell Lighting is a Subaru part, and the part number is: H201SSC000 They also make Red Footwell Lighting, and that part number is: H201SSC100 Here is the 2009 Subaru Impreza Accessory Guide: http://www.subaru.net/pdfs/2009wrxaccy.pdf . |

i thought about getting this, but then i realized it only comes on when the ebrake is pulled...
how much time do you honestly spend in a car with the ebrake pulled? Maybe if it was like mood lighting, which stayed on when you're driving i would buy it. |

Are you sure - I think it taps into the line that lights up the cubby

It is wired directly off of the light in the cubby so whenever your headlights are on, your footwell will be illuminated. I was thinking about putting the neons I pulled from my totalled focus in there and wiring it up, but this seems like a more elegant solution. $40 ain't bad for the kit.

Really? That seems dumb IMO. Light pollution while driving FTL.
I turn down all my interior/cluster light as dim as possible but still readable when driving especially on the highway. I've got blue footwell CFLs installed, wired to a switched feed from the cig lighter. $12 plus about 45 mins for the install using these: http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...NVERTER/1.html Had to extend one set of the leads but it was cake. The switch is on the center console where the heated seat switches would be. |

Why do people really worry what other people think of how your car looks. i rocked a wing on my mirage for years, took the abuse, but I left it on b/c I liked it. I thought peer pressure stopped making people do/not do things once high school was over...

I just bought some random blue leds for my floor and wired them into the dome light so when the door opens they turn on, and when you close it they dim off
