Well since you asked...Spent the first 3 hours of yesterday working on the oil return fitting. I was trying to thread it in without using a tap...which just was not working no matter what I did. Finally got a tap from the store, and the fitting was in within minutes

Got the turbo bolted in with new gaskets on the up-pipe and headers. You can see the oil return fitting here too.

And here is the oil feed coming from the rear galley plug

I'm about to head down into the shop to work on some more things. Like finish the coolant lines, intake, and work on the intercooler some more.

I will probably punch a small child if I ever have to take out/reinstall the gauge cluster again. Holy lord. It goes in just a CERTAIN way which takes forever to figure out. And then having the boost gauge on the steering column made it so I almost couldn't put it back together. Anyways, pics shortly...

The gauges look great! What all did you have to do to change the color? Isn't the stock gauge a greenish color? How is the dimming functionality?

Sorry for all the Q's I need to replace a few of my dash lights, and that's a nice result that you got.

For sure, no problem. For my car it was pretty easy as there are just four bulbs that light up the cluster gauges. And superbrightleds.com had LEDs that were a direct swap, with no soldering or anything. Same thing for the boost gauge, but a smaller bulb.

If you goto the website they tell you which bulbs you need for your car, but I also double checked with other people's experiences on the forums.

I listed the bulbs I used a few posts back.

As far as the dimming, I haven't tried it but the website says they should still dim as normal.

And yea the stock color is green which is achieved by clear bulbs and blue condoms. As well as the gauge face being painted green on the back, I believe. I didn't mess with sanding the green paint off and it still looks great! No weird color as far as I can tell.

EDIT: A couple more notes...

In the above picture, you can see how well my (crappy) JVC double din headunit matches the color of the dash. But it has something like 30 colors to choose from, to match almost any interior haha.

Also, it hard to tell, but the HVAC lights have been replaced with LEDs. A huge difference, as one bulb (there are only 2 back there) was burned out so you really couldn't even see the controls at night.

I wanted to take before pics, but I already had the cluster out and didn't want to struggle putting it in for a picture, just to have to pull it back out again.

Here is a picture I stole, but shows what it looked like before

Okay great, that's awesome thank you. My dash has the green coloring too. So you say you didn't sand off any of the green, that's what I was actually wondering. I've seen write ups where it's fairly painstaking to get it cleared. Honestly I don't mind the green, it matches my boost gauge also. I'll probably just get clear LED's, which I did look up after you posted the invoice picture, and they have them listed for my car also.

I'n not 100% positive the gauge face has the green coloring, as I didn't take apart the cluster but I thought I remember reading on subaruforester.org about others having problems with red LEDs showing through properly which made me a little worried. But I am more than happy with the result.

Definitely go with white LEDs as opposed to green as they show the needles alot better. Here is a comparison shot I found, white LEDs on the left and green on the right.

Block-off plates made. They're not perfect because I got tired of shaping them with a sawzall, hack saw and a file

I feel you brother! Spent yesterday making these. Not finished with them but I'm sure tired of them. Looks good though. Can't wait to see the car finished.

Why are you blocking off both inlets?

Because I heard it will give like an extra 40hp...

But seriously, because I am welding in a new inlet into the side of the intercooler. I posted a picture at the beginning of the thread that shows where the new inlet will go.

Thanks guys. Haha yea Dom, I chose this method because the intercooler would not fit well with the y-pipe on the back and also it would be tough to make the y-pipe connect to the turbo with it rotated like this.

Started up and drove around a little bit , staying out of boost (was hard to do ). No leaks! Just gotta wire in the emanage and do some more testing and it'll be ready for a tune!

Whenever Kirk is back in town, I'll have to drive down for a photoshoot ;D

Great work though, awesome ingenuity and execution of concept.

Or i'll drive up there lots more places for shoots haha.

Thanks, its been months in the making (mostly collecting parts). And hours upon hours of research on rs25.com. Some would argue that it would've been easier to do a wrx engine swap....and I might be inclined to agree with them now
But atleast this will be unique and there is still room for upgrades and expansion in the future.

And its still not done! I'm crossing my fingers that something unforseen doesn't occur when its getting tuned, hitting boost for the first time.
