Default signs that your turbo is going bad?

it was suggested by someone that my stock turbo on my 03 wrx might be going bad... im cobb stage two if that matters, stock bpv and intake... sometimes the power seems to come and go,and im getting some light smoke at startup from the exhaust... so im curious how i should be able to tell if my turbo is going bad? what are the signs if any? thanks for the help

that blows..but more curious about getting the symptoms or help on the issue without taking the turbo off

have you been getting a lot of boost surge? or what exactly does your friend notice about the turbo?

yep ur turbo is bad. i was getting my car dyno tune at pdx tuning and jerad informed me that my turbo wont boost until 4k at 10psi. he said i need to replace my turbo. my car does the same thing light smoke power comes and go. my car dyno 200whp at 10psi not bad?

My tuner instinctively knew that my turbo was on its way out. He said it just wasn't making the power it should at the boost and it wasn't spooling as fast as it should also. The smoking/oil burning/shaft play also gave hints. The easiest thing I imagine would be to check for shaft play if you are getting oil smoke in the exhaust.
