Default Painting roof rails and how to remove?

So the 2nd day of having my car, some idiot dropped steel plates on the freeway and me and 10 other cars took the brunt of it. Now my car has to go to the body shop and get fixed. But my question is, while it is in the shop I plan to fill the front bumper holes, and was thinking of painting the roof rails like the FSTi. How do you remove the roof rails. And should I either paint the middle portion silver, or can that middle part be ordered?
So here is the FSTi, see the rails are body colored, and then the middle is silver.

My car after wash, polish and wax today!

Then the front end all beat up

You could order the silver colored rails from the 04/05 FXT. They should transfer right over.

Depending on the price, I will look into them. Anyone know how to remove the rails? If it requires removing the inside roof panel, then I will say screw it.

AFAIK you need to drop the head liner to get to the fasteners below that hold the rail on.

Thanks!
I looked up how to remove headliner, found the process for a wrx wagon, so I guess this is about the same. Not sure if I want to go through with it or now....tough call.
