Help me choose a clutch!
Well...
I have 1999 Impreza 2.5 RS .. Which clutch should I get? I like ACT, but someone recommended ISR. How much are these things?

Tha Act clutch is great. I have had the street setup in for a few weeks now and am loving it... And just a tip why you are replacing that clutch replace that pesky 26 pound flywheel with a much lighter one your scooby will thank you fir it....

I would be interested in opinions too. I've heard that the ACT clutch requires more pressure on the pedal....something that will suck in stop & go traffic and piss my wife off.
Is the lightened flywheel really worth the extra $500 expense? Thanks!! |

The pedal action caused by the ACT clutch is not that bad. Geez. Once you get used to it in a couple of days you don't even know its there. The lightened flywheel is worth every penny, If you get the right type. I have the one from B-spec. It is designed with a majority of its mass towards the outside of it to ease startups, take offs, idle lumps which are generally caused by the type of flywheel with its mass mostly in the center. Again it takes a couple days to get used to the freeier reving mantality of the engine but once you are used to it you won't know its there until you look for it.......

Like I said in the above posts . I love the ACT setup. The pedal feels a tad heavier until you are used to it. The engagement is quick and tight and takes little effort. Also this would be a good time to lose that heavy A$$ stock flywheel and get a decent lightened one. I am running a flywheel from B-spec. it weighs in at a hefty 11.22 pounds. It has a majority of its weight towards the outside to ease everyday drivability issues. pm if you have any other questions about it...

lighter fly wheel = less rotational mass
which means the car will spin faster sooner.. . helps a whole lot with turbo charged cars with their spool up time and other things. Brad |
