Anyone with an Impreza Sport want chrome bezels around their Fog Lights? I've got two that will clip right over your existing fog lights! OEM part, brand new! Just looking to give back to NASIOC for all the help I've gotten.

Anyone know if this is the right part for the STi 19mm Rear Sway Bar? I was searching for it and kept getting different results. http://estore.subarupartswarehouse.c...icleid=1446523 |

I read on another thread that if your car already has the 16mm sway bar (Sport Premium/Limited models). All you need is the bar and bushings and that you could reuse the end links. |

I've been out of touch with this thread for a bit, so forgive me for looking back through 700+ pages. Has anyone experienced issues with their engines burning oil? I have just under 22k on my odometer and I am noticing that I am constantly having to add oil between oil changes. There isn't a drop underneath and I can't find any leaks up top.

Side mirror replacement
Has anyone replaced the side mirrors before? I need to replace the passenger side mirror because I got a big scratch in the lower black plastic and am curious how hard it is or if there are any tricks?
I am just replacing the side mirror assembly, not the painted upper cover or the mirror glass (see part #1 in the diagram below). From what I can tell I just need to pop the door panel off, take off the whole mirror assembly from inside the door, pop off the mirror glass and then the lower and upper covers. Thanks |

Those are unused parts from the OEM Fog Light Kit for the 5-Door or 4-Door 2012 and 2013 Impreza. Instead of replacing the black surround with this one, I just popped the covers out of the black ones and put them over the Fog Lights once they were installed. Looks just like the Impreza Sport setup. Which means that these ones with the chrome can fit over anyone's Impreza Sport if they want to change up the look.

I prefer the black, like you, but it is nice of you to offer them to someone else who likes the chrome. |

Got to give my Subaru and summer tires much love. Just got home from a trip to South of the Border fireworks store. It's raining buckets out here and I-95 is not the place to be in this area of North Carolina right now. It been like this for over a week. Cars off the road in the trees everywhere. This is why I bought my Impreza.

2013 Question
All,
I have been considering an Impreza2.0i and have a few questions. 1.) Has the oil consumption issue been addressed with the later 13's? I am sorry, but adding up to 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles is a dealer breaker for me. 2.) Which transmission has less issues? CVT or 5MT? 3.) Are you pleased with your 12 or 13 Impreza? Thanks! |

All,
I have been considering an Impreza2.0i and have a few questions. 1.) Has the oil consumption issue been addressed with the later 13's? I am sorry, but adding up to 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles is a dealer breaker for me. I don't think anything has changed with the engine from 2012 but Subaru is replacing the short block if it falls into that criteria. However, every make and model car has the possibility of being an oil burner. It's impossible to know this ahead of time to call it a deal breaker. All you can do is follow the break-in instructions in the manual and hope everything goes well 2.) Which transmission has less issues? CVT or 5MT? Haven't heard of any issues with either one. 3.) Are you pleased with your 12 or 13 Impreza? I'm pleased with my '12 Sport Limited. At 27,400 miles, it's been problem-free. |

My '13 Sport CVT has been terrific thus far- 69xx miles and it gets better the more I drive it. I was regretting the CVT at first due to the weird lack if RPM's and power beyond the 2.0l, however now that's its starting to loosen up its much much better. I can't imagine finding a better new AWD car with the benefits this has for $21,000 anywhere else. I think it drives like a much more expensive car than it is. And mine doesn't burn a drop of oil. I was easy on it for 1200-1500 miles then started getting a little more aggressive. After the first oil change at 2790 miles I started taking it up to 6000+ rpm more and M mode keeping RPM'S up more in town to run it a little harder so I could really seat rings. It's 60 deg here this evening and rainy and I was playing around with it in way home. It's really starting to pull well thru the rpm range and felt surprisingly much quicker and rapped RPM much quicker than it has been to this point. In very pleased with it.

2) Nobody has has serious transmission issues that I am aware of. If you are a typical owner who will trade the car in before you get to 200,000 miles you likely won't either. If you plan on driving into the ground, like some Subaru owners do, I would buy a 5 speed. If you do require repair, which the car will eventually, it will be much cheaper to maintain the standard transmission. This is also the case for the AWD system, the standard has a viscous coupler (mechanical) and the CVT has an electronic differential (clutches, and sensors, and etc). I am pretty confident repairing the viscous coupler will be far less expensive than repairing the electronic version. As far as mpg's, the CVT returns both the highest and the lowest based upon how it is driven. Read the forums, and ignore the outliers... 3) Love my subaru, absolute beast in the snow (with snow tires on it), pretty good mpg's (mine achieves the EPA combined numbers in normal driving), and the hatch is huge and useful. Other people seem to like it as well, and tell me that regularly. Last edited by Zeeper; 07-04-2013 at 08:00 AM. |

Thanks!
I appreciate the information! I may try to test drive a 5 speed today. One more question: has anyone had the dealer add cruise control as the 2.0i does not come with it?
Edit: I may well drive this car into the ground and keep her for a long time... |

You can add cruise, aftermarket wheels, etc. and try to make it into a premium, but the difference in the monthly payment really isnt all that much if you just get a slightly better car to begin with. Of course if you love to mod your car, getting a base allows you to choose your upgrades, but you usually don't get the money you spent on those things back when you resell it. Private resale will also be easier if it has factory installed options, instead of aftermarket mods. My 2 cents... Last edited by Zeeper; 07-04-2013 at 08:02 AM. |

But then again, having a base model means that you've got a blank slate to do all kinds of fun stuff to it. That's what I've been doing! |
