Well the theory is that the ECU is "learning" during the first 1000 miles.

The CBE makes the car breath a little more freely. I would want my ECU "learning" with the car the way it will be driven. If you're gonna flash or cobb later down the road I guess it wouldn't really matter either way.

The ECU is constantly re-learning driving patterns. Disconnect your battery and it's reset completely. You'll notice the difference right away.

Wouldn't this be another argument against the gentle break in procedure?

Default Ringland

I left it in I mode the first 300 miles or so and switched to S. Engine response is like a EJ253 in "I" and it only saves very little gas mileage but indeed it burns ultra-lean which is not a good thing for our fragile EJ257's piston. However if you don't WOT within first 1000~2000 miles then I think lean burn may not cause serious problems. but still burning lean is not good for combustion esp. when you don't put Shell or equivalent quality 93 gas in your tank. As we know lean-burn in a non-direct fuel injection engine is prone to knocking and eventually burst ringland of piston in case you don't have COSWORTH internals.

If I drive a new car with an engine other than EJ257 I don't even give a S**T about break-in. But sadly subaru did not plan to put FA engine into Sti, yet.

In S# however, AF~=11 thus burns very rich but is not recommended for first 1000 miles due to the engine revs much much much faster when you put your foot down. That may lead exceeding 4000 rpm even you totally not intended to do so.

Whatever you do, do with common sense and a bit luck.

Enjoy the ride.

Yep, I've now seen all of my January/February cars moved to a December ETA with VINs.

Wow this is some good news. Hopefully it'll be the same with my order as my dealer keeps telling me expected January delivery.

I have not. I have to wait until the end of January unfortunately. I'm saving for a bigger down payment and my goal is April to have it all saved. So if I order at the end of January the car should be here by April; basically I'm waiting to wait some more... Sucks.

bro, it's going to be a sucky wait in feb. You're going to have to wait 3-4 months and then the 2014 sti new generation will be out by then.

I still think the 13 is better than 14 because the first gen of a new generation cars are always the worst and don't look as nice and refined that 2nd or 3rd year cars.

most dealers do 500$ for deposit and the orange color is a very limited run to the point dont be suprised when only one or two dealers in every state get one and thats it

This annoys me seeing that my Aug15th order for my base Sti with navi is still on hold and has been for two months.

Yeah the wait is killing me! Like I said it's waiting to just wait some more. I'm gonna be all excited in January when I order and then have to wait 3-4 more months. My rallysportdirect.Com wish list is already up to $2800 lol.

I'm ok with the 2013. If I really want a new generation wrx/sti I'll wait till the 2015 or 2016...by then all the bugs should be worked out. I would never buy a first gen model... I still feel bad for the people who bought the 08 wrx's. Lol

Is that a SoNE thing? I haven't talked to my dealership here in Colorado in a month (ordered 10/27), and I was hoping for a February delivery anyways so I have more money (tax returns and stuff ) so a December delivery might not be in my interest...

There's some pics on the internet of the 2014 .. and I don't like it. 2013 could very well be the last good year. ?

There are no pictures of the 2014 new chassis yet. What you see is a mule car that has all the new internal bits but they put it into a 2013 Impreza chassis.

It's rumored that it will be a 2.0L DIT (electric turbo). It could potentially be a 2.5L as well.

Either way, it's still a safe bet just getting the 2013 now because it is a known and proven platform that won't have bugs to work out.

There's also been some talk about the new redesign not being sold until 2015MY, but it's highly likely you'll see the new design in April 2013 with cars being sold late 2013 as 2014MY.

They told me it just got off the truck a few hours eariler. Went back on friday at 9am to throw a deposit on her and on tuesday she will be all mine!

Worked out too perfect with selling my 07 wrx last week

NOT!!! Only 300 total cars and I bet there are a few dealers that will get at least 2. Every state.
