What we know and have heard and what others have reported:

1. Cars (WRX/STI) that are ORDERED are taking about 10-12 weeks on average.

2. Some people were put on "HOLD" with their orders over the summer, which delayed those orders even longer. This seems the exception and not the rule and was for a limited time only.

3. Some dealers (that are big volume dealers) have been able to get the cars a little sooner (maybe because of allocation) and average time has been about 10 weeks.

4. Ordering lots of factory extra's (primarily the NAV) has also added 1-2 weeks on average for orders.

5. Recently cars have been arriving sooner and some have received their cars in less than 10 weeks.

Because we only have a small sample size from those that post and what dealers have told us, this is the best we know.

It DOES seem that once the VIN is given out, that the order is moving along and you should expect it in 4-6 weeks.

I guess I'll just wait a few more weeks. I know it's gonna be worth it !!!

I'm on week 7 and many other here are on 10-12+ weeks waiting. I was told 8-10 weeks most when I put in my order. After 4 weeks and still on HOLD I called SOA and was told it might take up to 12-15+ weeks with current volume of orders they have. There really isn't much suggestion to make beside either wait for your ordered car or try to find one already on the lot somewhere and pay a premium price for it.

My sales person emails me every Monday morning, even if there is NO update. It is just a friendly reminder that I am on the radar, he is checking for me, and also let's me know about any other interesting Subaru news (like the recent launch of the new Forester model). This is just good customer service and also puts me at ease that I am still on his radar. He also maybe doing this to keep me from calling him, as I am sure many would do if they don't hear anything. Either way, it is welcomed.

I suggest that you ask your sales person to have him send you an email once a week, even if there is no news.

My salesman does that too. So every monday I'm anxious waiting for an email haha. However it has been disappointing the past 7 weeks lol. I already started ordering speakers and amp for it. Not sure if I would even need a good sound system because the boxer rumble might be too good to be over power by an audio system.

7 weeks? Did you get a VON and VIN yet? Did you get an ETA? I feel for you if it has been 7 weeks of NOTHING...

I ordered mine on Oct 20th, got the VON in a couple of days. Got the VIN and ETA on Week 5.

I wish mine did that ;_; . I haven't heard from mine in almost a month, and I always feel bad pestering them about how thing's are going. Guess I shouldn't worry too much though since they have $1k of my money

I only have a VON that I got instantly when I did the order. Keep getting the same update "Nothing new yet, order still on HOLD. I'll keep checking and let you know." email every Monday. And this is the biggest Subaru dealer in my state. They are getting 11wrx in transit but too bad none of it is mine T.T

I called sales manager at Rye subaru today just for ****s and giggles. today is Week6 Day1 of my estimated 6-8 weeks eta. a week ago i called SOA and they had no information for me so i just sighed like mostly everyone here.

He picks up the phone and says "its a beautiful day at Rye subaru!" (its snowing btw). He says i have good news, your car is built. According to him my car is in Boston. "released from the port of boston at 1:51 and 36 seconds yesterday afternoon." (ordered 10/15)

He said they should have it there by the end of the week, then finalizing paperwork and installing exhaust and short shifter, i should have it early next week.. (i wasn't expecting until after christmas) so im happy

If anyone is in the Pittsburgh area, I got this from a salesman (who I did not buy from .. went somewhere else.. eek)

this is from Bowser Subaru, just south of Pittsburgh:

"....I have a 5 door WRX Premium in Ice Silver Metallic, a 4 Door WRX Base Model in Ice Silver Metallic, and a 4 Door STi in the Special Edition Package in Tangerine Orange Pearl coming in the month of December. The 2 Ice Silver cars are due in first and should arrive around the 11th of the month with the Tangerine Orange one to follow later...."

Just got an update on mine:

Ordered: 10/27 w/ VON
VIN: 11/27 (might've been earlier, I haven't been harassing my dealer much!)
Estimated: 12/26

I'm a bit flabbergasted now. I had ordered in October because I was told it wouldn't be until February so I was getting all my financials in order for that. Now that it is estimated to be coming in December, I have to scramble to sell my WRX and what not xD.

I guess Subaru fixed their supply shortage pretty quick o_0.

That is awesome news! Quickest turnaround I have seen on this thread for an actual order.

Im in with the 12/17 ETA crowd. I of course am hoping it comes even sooner than that!

No VIN or ETA? That's odd, after 7 weeks. I would call to see if they even got a VIN number or ETA. If they say it is on HOLD, then it would not seem to be a Subaru issue, but maybe a dealership one. Could they have already filled their quota or something?

Seems odd, because I ordered mine after you, had my VIN at 5 weeks (this week) and even an ETA. I too ordered from the largest dealer in the state.

Has anyone's VON changed at all during the order process? I noticed mine is different pre and post VIN/ETA. I originally ordered with a couple small port-installed accessories which I saw on the "pipeline" screen after receiving the VON. Now the pipeline screen shows no port-installed accessories (salesman kept me updated with this info).

Maybe they got an allocation re-routed to fill my order or something? No big deal if I have to order these accessories separate and install them myself: armrest extension is the biggest one.

I haven't personally been checking a website. My salesman has just been sharing the info that's on their "pipeline" screen to keep me updated. Just seems a little odd to me. Salesman isn't sure if the car will come with the ordered accessories or not, he says we may have to order them separately.

I have never seen Subaru screw that up before. Easy enough fix though depending on what stage in the pipeline your car is in. As long as they are not having inventory issues with those accessories, just tell your salesman to contact his regional distribution person to add those on. Shouldn't be a problem. I have done it with my distribution lady many times.
