The deal? ******* crap. What are you trying to gain with plug wires? The RS ingition produces as hot a spark as it can with the stock ignition leads.

New ignition will do it, at the cost of several hundred dollars and much adjustment and tweaking, for a grand gain of next to nothing. The A/F densities in a stock RS are not great enough to merit a heavy-duty ignition. Also, what makes you think the stock ignition DOESN'T produce a "long-lasting" spark? Your RS does not have a distributor, thus you already have a lot of the source of the gains you see in ads for MSD, Crane, etc.

What are you talking about? You haven't ever used the product. We've had good reviews in both mileage and improved torque. We have a couple of sets floating around different parts of the country, and everyone seems to like them. They have a 30 day, money back guarantee, and they haven't cooked any computers. Using a solid state unit verses a system that has capacitance properties makes a big difference. I know that a lot of people like to talk in theory. Theory is nice. I don't worry myself with theory. I put stuff in and on my car. If it cooks, blows up, or otherwise mangles my car, we won't sell it. However, if it works, and I'm confident with the product, we send parts to our most valuable customers, get there impressions, run it for a couple of more months, then start selling it if the product pans out. I've been putting on average 600 miles a week on my car since I put these in. No computer problems, mileage over distance is improved. They work great in the cold, hot, and humid, snow, rain, nasty roads..... What we haven't tested them in is Subarus with headers. I'd like to get a set on a Ru' with headers. Who knows, htis might be the check engine light cure.

Show me the dyno sheets and I'll believe.
Until then the ignition on my RS is the best of any car I've yet to own. I have no evidence that it is inadequate in any way, and certainly not at stock compression and with the stock rev limit. What you haven't told me is WHY anybody should rip out a more-than-adequate ignition in search of something "better". Is your working theory that the new ignition burns more of the fuel? If so show me that the amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust has decreased. Just saying that it works is not enough. My stock ignition works great in the cold, hot, humind, rain, snow, and on nasty roads too. Also, I have my doubts that your mileage claim would hold up if subjected to an impartial, controlled, statistically valid test. Does your setup use the stock ignition retard system in the presence of knock? Have you taken any liberties with the spark timing, or is it exactly true to stock? |
