Default 3rd Annual New England Car Enthusaist Meet Sunday May 11th 2008!

3rd Annual New England Car Enthusiast Meet - MA,NY,CT,RI,NH,ME,VT

Last year was great! Last years meet had an EXCELLENT turnout (even for a partially cancelled meet due to what was supposed to be a snowy forecast), hopefully will be the same this year if not better . This year its at a later date so that way hopefully it will be a bit warmer!
RAIN OR SHINE OR SNOW. Everyone be sure to see what the weather is like in Worcester Massachusetts, thats what we're going by.

ALL CARS WELCOME, THE MORE THE BETTER, feel free to bring food, drinks, anything, no alcoholic beverages.

What: Car Enthusiast Meet, all cars welcome
When: Sunday, May 11th 2008, 12pm - whenever
Where: Advanced Auto Parts II, on Grafton Street (NOT AutoZone both are very close to each other) in Worcester Massachusetts.

Directions:
From New York - Find I-90 E (aka., the Masspike) Take Exit 11 (Millbury/Worcester) at Intersection off exit, take a left at the lights, stay straight for about 2-3 miles, Store will be on the right side.

From Conn. Take I-395 North until it changes into I-290 East, Take Exit 14 towards Grafton/Uxbridge route 122 (rt. 122 is Grafton st), at intersection off exit stay right, take a right at the light, stay on Grafton St. for about 1 ½ miles. Store will be on your left.

From Rhode Island - Easiest way to get there from 146 is about 10 minutes longer than another way but the other way is more complicated, easy way - Take Route 146 North, until you reach I-90(Masspike), after tollbooth go I-90 East Towards Boston, Take Exit 11 (Millbury/Worcester) at Intersection off exit, take a left at the lights, stay straight for about 2-3 miles, Store will be on the right side.

From Maine (If any) -I-195 South / West to I-495 South, to I-90(Masspike), after tollbooth go I-90 West Towards Springfield, Take Exit 11 (Millbury/Worcester) at Intersection off exit, take a left at the lights, stay straight for about 2-3 miles, Store will be on the right side.

From New Hampshire - many different ways to get there... dont know how to explain it, but here it goes, for the people next to Concord, take I-93 south to I-495 South then to I-90(Masspike), after tollbooth go I-90 West Towards Springfield, Take Exit 11 (Millbury/Worcester) at Intersection off exit, take a left at the lights, stay straight for about 2-3 miles, Store will be on the right side.

From Vermont - Take I-91 South to French Kings Highway East, then to Route 2 East Take route 2 East until you get to I-190 South, I-190 South merges into I-290 West, take exit 14, stay right off exit (around a bend) stay right after bend at intersection. Take a right at intersection, you are now on Grafton St. Store will be on your left about 1 ½ miles up the road.

NOTE TO ALL COMING FROM I-290
When you get onto Grafton St. bear right of the rotary that comes up after the Mobil gas station that you will see on your right. This is now still Grafton St. it just has a lot of bends and weird intersections. At the next big intersection you want to stay in your left lane and bear left, do not take a complete left turn up a hill, just bear left at the fork, If you went the right way, the CVS will be on your right side, not your left, and there will be a Getty gas station on your left right after the CVS, if you see these places your heading in the right direction. The store parking lot will be on your left side up ahead in about a ½ - ¾ mile.

NOTE TO ALL COMING FROM I-90
After you pay the toll, take a left at the lights, stay on this road for about 2-3 miles, if your heading in the right direction you should pass a 7 Eleven which will be on your left, and cross about 3 sets of lights. You will see a big Stop & Shop plaza on your right side eventually, you are now about ½ mile away. Store parking lot will be on your right side.

Be sure to post this up on another forum if you know of any that haven’t been informed, more people = better! Take this day off!

for pictures from the previous meets, go to www.cardomain.com/id/enjoi926 click the white mirage/evo then go to page 5 (2006), or for last years meet (2007) you can find scattered pictures over a lot of different forums, here is a good one that I have managed to find; (dont mind the guys head near the orange SRT-4, thats because it was two photos put together by someone with photoshop)

Hopefully we'll have our Corvette on the road again by then, so maybe we could have a fun old muscle showing too.

no read the line above the picture

and that location is good, it was just too snowy and cold outside still and half the parking lot was taken up by snow mounds.

that would be awsome!

i might go pull out the vette next time i get a nice free day and bring it home to my heated garage and do some maintainence work on it.....oil change, plugs, clean the carb etc...

it is in great shape and had good paint till ice ripped through the cover of the building its in and fell on it.....luckily has a padded cover on it at all times but it still chipped some paint on the hood and took a chip out of fiberglass on the fender.....and repainting the car is no cheap or easy task

im gonna leave it for a few more years save up some extra and have it painted....

i also have my grandfathers 1956 Nomad with a newer built smallblock and 4 speed in it.....gotta find the time to do the brakes in that, it had a frame off resto but the wonderful "power brakes" are crap and failed on me just moving it 100yards and i drove through a fence because they gave out

That sucks about effing up the paint on the Corvette. Such a shame. After we get done with everything, we'll save some money for a few years and then we're going to bring ours to get painted. Paint is in OK shape right now but nothing amazing. It's ontario orange right now and we're going to get it sprayed Atomic Orange - the color of the new 08+ Corvettes. We just have to run brake/fuel lines, throw in the C6 Z06 clutch/flywheel, and finish up with the T56 tranny mount and we'll be able to put the body back on. Then some more fun begins (new gauges, getting a retrofitted shifter to work in the current console, etc.) Should be fun with the LS motor and 6spd, compared to the old tired 350 with the 4 speed.

Ya i was pretty pissed about the paint and so was my grandfather. He was going to put up the money to paint it again but his painter has kind of retired and only does maybe 1 or 2 cars a year now and for big bucks but ive talked to him a few times and may be getting it done sooner. I might do a majority of the work with him along side to watch over. He lives 5 minutes up the road from me and has a booth at the house.

The vette actually has a mildly built L79 327ci in it. I dont know much detail wise but I know it came from a 67. As the owner of the 66 before my grandfather had tossed the car in a field and didnt do anything. Long story but everything was mint except the motor had just rusted solid from sitting.

The L79 is one of the best all around motors from the era its very streetable and very responsive. It has had some top end work from what i understand and i believe must be in the 400hp/400tq range as it originally came with 350hp/360tq.

Its not a crazy motor but hauls some pretty serious ass, the 4 speed tranny is way too short though I wish the gears were a little taller.

I mean i can chirp 1-3 pretty easily

Oh its also got the side exits on it....mmmmm

Im gonna need to pick up some new tires, do the general maintaince stuff and itll be good to go.

After that the chrome is starting to get a little ****ty but if i do the paintwork ill pull the chrome obviously and send that out to get redone.

Just little things here and there but everything is pretty much original on the car besides the motor replacement. It had a frame off but the frame was mint(long story) and didnt require any work. Threw all new bushings and stuff in, cars like new

That's cool. I like side exit exhaust... I'd love to do one on ours but we'll probably end up going with a classic 2.75" or 3" with an X pipe. We have to bring our car down to a shop in Seekonk after it's up and running to get dynoed and tuned to make sure everything is fine and good. The LS has some work done to it... cam, p&p heads and throttle body, Mezeire elec. water pump, etc. The guy swapped it into his '01 Camaro before he totaled it (fishtailed and put the back end into a tree with no insurance.... genius). He had ran an 11.6 up at NED with drag radials so it should be a pretty stout motor, but we'll see once we get it on the dyno for sure. He said it's around 485-500hp. Once it's up and running we'll have to get a good old Corvette showing to some of the meets haha... it puts my RS to shame

Ya when they had disassembled it the guy had an extra set of OEM Gm side exits laying around so we fill the rear exit holes and put the side exits on....

OEM Side exits for the car today are worth a pretty penny themselves

Ya I am not looking to do anything crazy with the vette just keep it pretty simple and original. The little 327 holds its own on the road. Its a peppy little thing.

There was a 66 or 67 vette on ebay with an LS swap in it yesterday i was drooling.
