My tuner tells me that we need a larger turbo but I need to have one with exhaust inlet and outlets that exaxtly match the stock locations on the VF42.

Car is road race application so our primary goal is throttle response with mid range grunt. That actually trumps overall horsepower hence the smaller turbo selection so far and the twin scroll set up. If there is something larger out there that would not compromise rapid spool up, I am very interested. Thanks for any ideas that you might have.
If you looked at all the information from the OP first post and looked closely at all of the Dyno Graphs listed as well. Then I would have to say an SC46 is your turbo of choice. However there is quite a gap in the other Twin Scrolls from ScoobyClinic, as there just hasn't been anyone testing them. Those being the SC38 and SC40 TS variants.

If you have a donor VF36/37 and you could use your VF42 as well to send into Blouch and have them build you an SC46.

Another great choice is the Litchfield Turbo's and the it seems the LM450-S60 is a great setup as well and would similar to the SC46.

I myself am quite interested in the SC40 TS (Blouch 20G-XT TS). One it's a bit cheaper, don't have to destroy my VF36 to get a SC46 and should make approximately the same Power. Only downfall is it should spool a little bit slower with the Journal Bearing center cartridge.

they will build you whatever you want and are decently priced.. AKA kinugawa. Remove Moore from your list, thats not stock location at all, and would not be a good option if you already have the JDM setup.....

Pretty interesting, I wonder how good they are. I know that some people have tested the Single Scroll stuff with success. Makes me wonder if the Hotside for their TS is the same is what Blouch uses. However I wonder if they are using the lighter billet wheels that blouch offers too... I kind of doubt they do.

Yeah I agree the Moore Performance set up is not an option to us...lets keep this thread on topic....I too am patiently awaiting for viable option for 400whp utilizing the stock JDM headers and uppipe.......

They actually make their own copy vf37 hot-sides if you need a replacement they are cheap. May be able to get a specialty setup like HTA assist,I know they have a Garret cartridge option. But I doubt they will be on the same level of the billet blouch. Just another good inexpensive option that someone in the US needs to disprove the nasayers with. Im happy with my current setup, but Im sure that will change. So I plan to change to an upgraded twinscroll turbo of some sort and flip to E85 as my next stage..Ive actually got something in the works with Kinugawa/kamak but we will see if that pans out. Sup to my Club ej207 brethren..

So is it possible to buy a replica VF37 (P25) Hotside off Kamak and use that to send into Blouch to have them build an SC46? Because Blouch can't use their custom TS housings that they have molded to do create their 18G, 20G variant TS turbo's.

Also if this was possible, why doesn't Blouch/ScoobyClinic buy housings off of Kamak for the Hotside?

Did Kamak give you a price just for a VF37 hotside perhaps?

No Ive only talked complete turbos with them. One cool thing is that they are wanting to use old stock standard flange stainless 3 inch USDM downpipes they've sourced and use their VF36/37 neck to reconfigure them for us in the US and they will be cheap, cheap. Also, ive suggested to them to include 3 bungs 2 for the stock 02's and an additional one for your wideband if needed. They loved that idea. Im telling you these guys are very smart, I mean look at how they even came up with the idea to offer the whole neck instead of just a flange.made it so easy to make my own downpipe.

Well I just sent them an email, so we'll see what they have to say. If they can sell them independently, then I would probably have to verify with Blouch if they can actually use it to create an SC46. Don't want to waste money on a housing that ends up worthless haha.

Moore does have a "stock location" turbo option, granted it requires a new up-pipe. I feel it is worth keeping it up there on this basis.

I think most people are griping at Moore is because they would need the UP-pipe, downpipe, intake and maybe even a new Intercooler to make it work. Versus just a different Turbo and bolting it in.

However I am not opposed to Moore's option and look forward to it's results. As Liquid said above I agree that the Moore option should be further discussed in this thread. Being that Liquid is the OP he has all rights to keep new information about Moore's setup being discussed. Also Liquid posted information in regards to the Moore setup in his OP as well.

New results over at scoobynet for a SC46. I'm still awaiting details on if it is a twin scroll or single scroll version. But from what we have seen the peak power is similar between the two (both are billet) while spool is better on the twin scroll.

Here are the small details we do have. It is a 2.0, but not sure if STi or WRX (assuming STi) running STi ver2 heads (crap compared to ver8) on 100RON (96-97 octane). Given that this is a 2.0 on those meh heads, I'm pretty impressed with the results, couldn't imagine this on a full ver8 EJ207, tq would have held much better up top. They also said it had room for more power but they held it back for safety. Target boost was 1.8 bar (26psi). Also note that these are not AVCS heads (correct me if I'm wrong) which explains the lower tq down low, and it may also be a single scroll unit. If this is the case, the twin scroll with AVCS would be much stronger down low, so this graph is more about showing the potential of the SC46.

UPDATE this is a single scroll

True it is a little more work, but a lot less than some of the other rotated twin scroll kits requiring ewg, piping etc, not to mention those are all much larger turbos.

I think those of us in this thread are primarily interested in medium size turbos that spool like stock will achieving around 400whp. But I agree that Moore should limit their discussions in here to the stock location turbos and not the rotated, even though I love hearing about the results .

Yeah an SC46 TS seems like the way to go. I just wish they were easier to obtain, then having to send in my perfectly working VF36.
