Default What's the best way to get to Logan Airport?

I've got a flight at about noon on Thursday. I live off 495, about 10 minutes north of the Pike. Is is sane to take the pike and Ted Willams tunnel during rush hour traffic? Or might I be better off going 495N-93S-95W-1S-??, or something like that?

Oh an BTW, how unsafe is parking at Logan? I know it's not cheap.

Thanks,

Kevin

Now that the turnpike extension is open, getting into Logan is sooooo much easier.

Noontime flight, so you'll want to get to the airport at what, 11:00 or so? Morning "rush" is certainly done by 10:00 am.

You'll have no trouble at all taking the pike straight in.

-Brian

Parking in the central garage is pretty safe these days, I think. I've certainly never had a problem. Just don't leave a bunch of stuff lying about your car.

yeah taking the pike's pretty good now, especially with that cool new tunnel.

parking is definitely not cheap at logan but it seems to be quite safe, especially iwth all that security lol. Parked my gti for a week before.

im still a big fan of the logan express... have someone drop you off 2 min of the framingham pike exit and let the bus take you in.

then you don't have to pay the sickening parking prices.

Have you flown out of Manchester, NH lately? I live here, so I'm a bit biased, but I fly all the time for work. I'd rather deal with a connection or a slightly less convenient schedule than drive to Boston. The fares are also cheaper. Check that out next time.

Another thing is to look at the Massport site www.massport.com for their Logan Express option. Depending on how long you'll be away for, you might be better off parking at the park-n-ride lot and taking the bus in to Logan.

I took the the Ted williams tunnel this saturday. It took 52 minutes to get there from the uxbridge/northbridge line. I parked in Terminal B lot Saturday @5:30p.m. - Monday 8 p.m. and it was $55. And not a scratch on the car.

I parked in the economy lot at logan 2 months ago and not a scratch either. That was $16 a day.

The new tunnel was great! Rush hour is pretty much over at 9am these days.

Thanks guys,

Sounds good, I'll take the tunnel. I need to call the airline and find out how early I need to get there. I wish I could get dropped off in Framingham, but my return flight comes in at 10:30 pm. Parking is not cheap - $22 per day in central, $16 in economy. Since when is $16 a day an "economy" rate?

I think Logan Express busses run until midnight or so, so even if you flight comes in late, you can still get back to Framingham. You just need to get someone to pick you up that late

Take the Logan express!

My last job had me flying 3 or 4 times a month, but I'm now in a non-travel job. Back 6 months ago parking in Framingham was $7 a day and the round trip was $16 for the bus. The busses run every 1/2 hour and keep going till midnight.

Don't you mean the Carnagie Hall?
That's in NYC, email for directions. :P

Yeah, I took the TW Tunnel on Sunday for the first time... save yourself 15-20 minutes by getting a EZPass or whatever its called in MA as the cash lanes long.

edit - while I was there I spotted a mildly modded silver WRX.

My dad travels for work and flies in and out of logan somewhere between 2-7 times a week. He says the TW tunnel even in rush hour isn't bad at all. At 5:30pm on a friday it used to take him over an hour to get to the pike from logan, now it takes like 5 min.

Best way to get to Logan Airport is by plane, helicopter would be my second choice.

Paul G.

I park at a local T stop and take the train in. Parking at the MBTA is about $3/day depending on where you go.

Absolutely! That's how I get there the first time. I was so smart!

And don't forget the water shuttle, or whatever that little ferry is called...

Logan Express is good way to go......
Having flown a couple of weeks ago......your airline may cutoff checked baggage a half hour before boarding, to give them time to scan luggage going onto your flight. Take this into account when planning how early to arrive.
Have a good trip!

I'm flying to CO in two weeks and I'll be using the Logan express. Save time, gas and money.

Back in the good 'ole days , when DEC was in their hayday, I'd hop a DEC helicopter from Marlboro and land at Logan. They used to call it the Digital Air Force. No charge for employees as long as you show up. When I co-op'd in Marlboro, another co-op and I took the helicopter to get pizza. Yah, I know....maybe that's why they went away.
