Default 99 legacy outback swap?

Heres the deal, I have a 99 legacy outback ej25 phase ? with a blown head gasket. I'm trying to figure out which route to take with it; do I swap the engine for a USDM EJ25t, or fix both heads and put turbo in myself? (is this possible?)
from what research I have done it seems that I would have to replace the drivetrain if I go with the USDM EJ25t. is this true? any advice would be much appreciated.

No need to swap drivetrain. Yank the motor, pull the heads and take them to a machine shop to see if they are still flat. If they need a little machining no big deal. Just make sure to use the correct headgasket, you might have a phase II block under your EJ25D heads. You can only be sure once you pull the heads and see if the pistons pop out of the bore.
