How local is local?
Skip Barber at Laguna Seca too far away to qualify?
I guess Bondurant in AZ is about equidistant.

I thought about skip barber's but its a bit on the fringe of too far. I was hoping to find something a bit closer but if I cant I will probably go there. Also it seems to me that skip barber's school is for aspiring race car drivers in open wheel cars (please correct me if I am wrong). I was wondering if there was a different type of school that focused on teaching performance driving with more real world applications.

There is the Derek Dailey one in Vegas - they give telemetry printouts from the single seaters to show you where you are losing time in comparison to the instructors...

Heard nothing but good things about it

I think they have two different programs: One (racing school)for track specifics and one (driving school) as a street/driver training. The latter begins with Neons and ends with an autocross using their Vipers

I'd like to go to that one in 2002...

Exclamation driving school

The SoCal Alfa Romeo Owners Club puts on great driving schools at Willow Springs International Raceway (near palmdale & lancaster). The cost is usually $170-80 for two days, and there is a special club rate for the hotel ($50 I think). Any make & model of car is welcome, in fact... there are usually more non-Alfas in attendance. There are four levels of the school: Street Performance, Time Trial, Advanced Time Trial, & Race school. It's a great value and you get tons of track time, as well as good classroom instruction and time on the wet skidpad

Check out http://www.arosc.org for more info. There are usually two schools a year, one in Feb/Mar/April and one in Oct/Nov/Dec. The next school is the weekend of 2/9 & 2/10.

The only safety equipment you'll need in the Street Performance class is a SA95 helmet, but if you participate in the more advanced courses you need things such as 5-point harness & fire extinguisher, etc.

EVOC, the Emergency Vehicle Operations Center in Glen Helen in San Bernardino County. They don't have a racing school per se', but they do offer a couple course to the general public...EVOC check it out, it's not much, but it's a lot closer and cheaper than the others.
Gotta fly!

Cool WOW!!

Thanks for the info guys! I've just sent my entry form for the next AROSC event, and I'll be stopping by for a visit to EVOC sometime after the holidays. Now all I need is a helmet and some gloves!

Cool Whew

Kewl. It's good to know that I won't be the only Impreza there. Those Alfa Romero guys might get jealous and try to beat me up. Anyone else planning to go?

Default Going to Bondurant.

Calling all rookies.

I'm going to Bondurant over the Christmas break for the full-on performance/evasion driving school. What if I ask about a group deal?

Let's figure out how many of us would go and I'll pop the question. I've got a few friends over there who might have a opportunity for i-club.

Default arosc driving school

You guys will have a blast with the Alfa club... and no, they won't beat you up If anyone gets beat up it will be a Porsche owner (the Alfa club has a long-time grudge with P-cars).

I'm going to try and make it to the Feb school event, but I have serious doubts that my track car will be back up & running by then... I may just have to bring the WRX

There are some pictures of previous AROSC driving school events on my website fastalfas.com Just click on "recent club events".

Cheers,

Chip
