Question about the stock 6 disk changer
If I get an aftermarket (pioneer) head unit is there any way to keep the 6 disk changer intact and use it? Or do I have to get another one? Where would be the best place for the new one?

If you have the same OEM HU that I have, the changer is integrated in the unit itself; if you replaced the unit you would have to get a new changer.
