Headlight problem!
Ok so yeah, I just got my car back from the dealership to get it fixed from when this 'woman' hit me. My front bumper, headlight, and both fenders were damaged. So I'm driving home and I notice that my headlights were pointing a little low to the ground. Low as in my headlights only had a 6 ft radius. And oh yeah, my foglights went farther then my high beams so something is definately wrong. I checked it out but I can't seem to fix it. It's within headight and I'm not sure how to fix it? can someone help?

Sounds like the dealer didn't re-aim your headlights. Instructions should be in your manual, but if you don't have one, there should be a screw/bolt that you can turn to aim them.

Looking down from behind the headlight, you should be able to see it. It's connected to a gear on the other side that turns another gear attached to the adjuster. I believe it's the only screw that you can see when looking down.

you might want to check if the bulb is mounted correctly also....if the bulb is not mounted flush correctly, ie in the right grooves, it will screw up the dispersement pattern....also check north ursalia's sight on how to aim... www.northursalia.com

Speaking of headlight problems...
I recently noticed that my drivers side low beam was out but that the high beam was working fine. No problem, seemed normal enough, afterall, there are two filiments in the bulbs so I ordered some new bulbs from PIAA, heck been looking for an excuse anyway. Installed them yesterday and lo and behold, the low beam STILL doesn't work. I look hard at the old bulbs and they seem fine, I suspect that they are.
I called up the dealer and his service manager told me that I had probably melted the harness with the aftermarket bulbs I had in there (Streetglow, I don't recommend them, they look ghetto.) I then proceeded to inform me that the only way to fix it was to replace the entire harness. "Oh crap, what is THAT going to cost me?" "Nothing, I will fix it under warranty." I ship the car out of the country soon (a week) and need this done right away. The manager authorizes the service manager to get the part overnight and to fix the car on Monday. By the way, this was all handled after 6 PM, after the service manager, and the dealership manager had gone home for the night. They called me on a 3 way call from their cell phones, what amazing customer service. Even better, before we got off the phone, the manager tells the service manager that if he can't getg the part, to remove one from a WRX sitting on the lot to take care of me. Holy COW! Anyhow, has ANYONE heard of this before? I havn't. What are some other possible causes/solutions. I am not too worried because it is all getting done for free, even though he should be able to deny me warranty work because he suspects that my aftermarket bulbs were the cause of the problem. Any help would be nice. Thanks. Dave PS. The dealer is a Subaru Dealer in Olath Kansas (near Kansas City). I didn't buy my car there, they have never gotten a dime of my money and probably never will, and yet they bent over backwards. If they are this good to someone who can't do anything for them, imagine how well they would treat you if you went in there to buy a car! Manager: Bill Breed (Awesome) Service Manager: Chris Stroud (Awesome) Highly recommended. |

thats kinda cool...although i dont know if i trust them taking it off of another wrx, but anyway...yes this has been explained to death...most "hyperwhite" bulbs simply use HIGHER WATTAGE to create "more" light...it really doesnt make a difference....mostly what people notice is more USEFUL light...as in color and relief...higher wattage bulbs can not be supported by stock harnesses that are rated for 55/65W bulbs.....if you are not upgrading the harness, i would suggest against "hyperwhite" bulbs....take a look at the connectors on the harness, what probably happened was they got friend and the plastic melted into the pins, making them lose contact and there go out....it of course is irreversable.....only thing is replace harness, which costs a nut unless they cover it under warrenty, which they shouldn't...because you caused it not subaru or defect.....but well you got a good deal, just dont be surprised if they actually charge you something..iirc that harness is $$$$$$$$$$
