When I was writing my post I was going to mention FR but when I went to their website it appeared their only offering was a twinscroll setup, and I'm not going there... anytime soon anyway. The APS I got was installed while I still had the factory VF40, and I didn't see the direct comparison. Does FR make a direct replacement for the stock header or is it only TS? I'm curious.

I knew what I wanted in an EL header, and found it in the APS. But I didn't stop there, I got their wrap system. It cost as much as some header systems, and was a major pain to install correctly. The finished system was what APS intended, not the header alone. Given the cost, and PITA to install, not to mention covering all that bling... it's my opinion a bunch of people didn't do the wrap. And to me, there is the source of the failures...(not only in APS's headers, but most headers). The APS header system I installed more than four years ago is still flawless. I don't own it anymore, but it's local and owned by a friend. Actually, the entire car is still working perfectly. It pays to address the details. Now, Full-Race... no worries about cracking. |

I'd like to see the differences in EGT, rather than HP.

i skimmed through the entire thread, i saw a difference between STOCK UEL vs aftermarket EL headers as expected there was substantial gain. What i want to see is AFTERMARKET UEL vs AFTERMARKET EL. If i missed it call me a jackass and ill read through again, but it seams the argument here is EL aftermarket vs uel stock?

This thread ought to be called..........Inefficient vs most efficient .....facepalm, obviously any equal length header would outperform a stock casted unequal design..period.

unequal lenth = boxer rumble faster spooling (so i read on another thread by unabomber) equal length = lose boxer rumble but gain high end power. |

Just my .02 cents, UEL header was the worth thing I ever did to my car. I have the invidia UEL header and 3" magnaflow exhaust, sounds like complete garbage. I sound exactly like a SOHC non vtec honda when i fly by. The very next long weekend i have I am ripping it out and throwing the stock back in.
Worst $900 I ever spent in my life. |

Our personal experience is also that magnaflow mufflers have that fart-can Honda sound to them. I won't use them anymore, but that is just our personal preference and I'm sure others feel differently. |

I gained about 30whp and 50wtq from adding EL headers to my car. It sounds different now, but it definitely doesn't sound like a riced out civic or anything of that sort.
Check out the dyno comparison and 2 videos for sound purposes: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...69&postcount=1 |

My buddy at work would always say that EL headers sound like Hondas, I have the TOMEI EL header on my car mated to a SPT catback and it sounds nothing like a Honda.
He listened to it and rode with me and finally agreed that it does not sound anything like a honda. Misinformation and uneducated people are the main reason why the "EL = honda" thought is out there |

Currently running on a built bottom end and full bolt on's with the tomei El header and up pipe combo with a invidia q300 Quite honestly I miss the rumble of the UEL but damn the el header is friggin sexy! Here are three video's of the car cold start, Idle and cruise and launch control.
