Default E85 fuel available now in Arvada 9/22/06

Good news!

The Hill Petroleum Sinclair station in Arvada (Colorado) is pumping E85 now.
They just put the pump in, I bought some today so this is for real right now.

$2.46.9/gallon

Pump is on the far north side of the truck island.

Station location is between Sheridan and Lamar on Ralston road (north side just west of the overpass)

They also pump Sunoco GT100 race gas.

Larry,
Why must you tempt me so. I keep calling my RS done, but converting it to E85 would take it up just one more level. Must resist urge...

That's a rediculous price for E-85!!!

If we go to a couple other stations we can get it for $1.99/gal.

Tell the guys selling it for that price they are idiots.

It is a chevron. I have talked with the manager and he said the price will remain high. Funny thing is I checked today and it is down to 3.25, still rediculous. Oh well I still buy 2-3 gallons anyway. Trying to intice more people to purchase it.

Oh yeah Speaking of converting to E85, I am currently researching parts combos that would take advantage of E85's high octane. I would love to have a higher compression 2.5 tubo WRX. Any advice on this topic?

Talk to Harvey. He drives an '02 WRX wagon with an Ej257 bottom end. He recently went through the E85 conversion on his car. He's a wealth of knowledge on the subject...

Im currently running a 9.5:1 EA82 turbo on E85 and it seems to be fat dumb and happy. Only running waste gate boost at the moment and do not have much time on the engine (need a new clutch the previous owner cooked it).

Will give more info after we get a couple thousand miles on it and can jack the boost up with out smoking the clutch.

The engine will tolerate more compression on the E85, but we still do not know the limits as not enough people have run high compression engines with boost on E85. You will need to add about 30% to your fuel delivery and will need a lot more injector if you going for big numbers.

We'll just let Hamfist be our beta test monkey and find the limit for us...

I am not going for huge numbers, ~ 260-270 WHP from an EJ25. I like power and I also like a car I can drive every day. I would also like to retain 20-23 average MPG.

Back in my Honda days my boosted integra RS was at ~ 9.5:1 running 9lbs of boost. So I would guess that 10:1 or even 10.5:1 with 9-10 lbs of boost would run quite well. But again we dont have much data on this topic yet so I may start with 10:1 compression and adjust boost as I go. It will be nice to say goodbye to any sign of turbo lag.
